DC Killing Batman?
In light of the very stupid “deaths” of Superman and Captain America (as well as multiple deaths for the Flash), this would be incredibly stupid. It’s just the height of unimaginative thinking. It’s one thing to kill of Robin or Bucky (although that doesn’t quite work since both Bucky and Jason Todd came back to life), but a whole other to kill of a character that everyone knows is the center of a multi-billion dollar licensing machine.

Oh. From the headline I thought you meant Washington D.C. … this being an election season and all.
Killing Batman–honestly, truly, this-is-the-body and these-are-the-autopsy-results dead–would be a monumental blunder unless they truly meant to keep him dead.
Because a resurrected Batman of any kind is a shark-jump. I don’t care if they use a Lazarus Pit to do it. If he cheats death, then it doesn’t matter that he was otherwise an ordinary mortal being.
Stay tuned for…. Zombie Batman!
Isn’t there like a movie coming out this summer or something? Why would you feature him in a movie and then immediately kill him off just as you’re gaining new fans?
If DC didn’t have to constantly run things like this past their corporate overlords at WB, I’d think it was possible.
It would be great character development for Dick Grayson to take up the mantle as head of the Bat Family.
MARVEL DEATH!! Even at the (un)Distinguished Competition. Gee, I am SO glad I finally gave up comics.
Don’t forget there is a big “Final Infinity Crisis on infinite Worlds” crossover/continuity cleanup coming this summer. Don’t expect Batman to be dead at the end of that.
Where did you find that picture? Is there a preview of the issue or something somewhere?
Oh, never mind. I clicked the link and found the article. I guess, um, that’s why the link is there… Okay, I’ll go away now.
It is indeed stupid. 1) it’s already been done to, er, death. They killed off Supes that time and it was a big deal and all, so maybe this is “sequel syndrome” (hey, killing off Supes was a big hit, let’s kill off Bats for a while and cash in again). 2) everybody knows he won’t stay dead, just like everybody knew Supes wouldn’t stay dead, Cap won’t stay dead, none of those guys stays dead. 3) Bats should have died a dozen times already. He’s not invulnerable like Supes, he’s just a highly-trained, very smart guy in a costume. Somebody should have blown him up a long time ago, or filled him full of lead, or just dropped a nuke on Wayne Manor (how many people know his secret ID, again?). So huzzah, finally some super-smart villain does him in. Yawn. 4) There may be more than one Bats. I keep hearing rumors that DC is going to be bringing back the Multiverse, that they find the post-Crisis universe too restrictive (which is why the Multiverse was created in the first place, duh). So this may be Bats from Earth-2 or something they’re killing off (didn’t that happen in one of the old Multiverse worlds?).
5) it’s comics.
