Tilting At Windmills

Apparently John McCain believes he can make a run at California. I hope he has the same success the Bush team did when they spent a lot of time and money in California in 2000. That is, they lost by 12%.

Kerry’s approval ratings are low, maybe they can try and steal his Senate seat!
If they spend any real amount of money in California, they will lose the election. California costs too much and they won’t be able to swing it this year. On the other hand, money spent there will mean money not being spend in places like Iowa, Ohio, Virginia, Colorado, etc. and that would cost them real EC votes.
Well, since I am sure they are on the verge of forcing McCain to abide by his decision to opt into public financing, this is all irrelevant.
Ha!
Just kidding!
You’re missing the end game. Remember, the cons put that ridiculous referendum on the ballot where California’s delegates will be apportioned by congressional district. McCain is thinking if he steals enough districts and the referendum passes, he can get more of the delegates despite losing the popular vote.
McCain is looking at Mondale-like defeat, obviously. I’ll be surprised if he gets 40% of the national vote.
Over my dead body will that referendum pass, even if the Dems will win the large metro areas.
