Fumbling in the middle of an appearance in Texas, the 71 year old John McCain says he will run a “dispirited” campaign and touts his credentials as a proud “conservative… liberal Republican”. Then the crowd laughs at him.

I can’t wait to see the McCain/Obama debates — the difference between these two candidates is just going to be so stark and favorable for Obama. I know the MSM loves McCain, but nothing will hide how he’s a tired old man running in a year when people are looking to set a new course.
Oldest president ever doesn’t sound bad compared to dumbest president ever, which we got through 8 years of. (Hopefully. He still has close to a year to really fuck things up.)
However, a few more of these and people will start whispering, “medically unfit to lead.”
I was looking forward to voting for him in 2000. I really admired the man. Now, I feel nothing but contempt for him.
I could not imagine hugging and sucking up to a chicken hawk coward who insulted my family.
10,000 people died in that Tornado!!
Anyone who speaks extemporaneously 10 hours a day for 2 years straight is bound to screw the pooch every so often. Congratulations on being there when it was McCain’s turn.
Farris, we’ll all be there for McCain’s screw-ups. He’s not a very eloquent guy, particularly in extemporaneous speeches. He has gotten traction in his political career because he’s good at face to face interactions like Meet the Press.
“Anyone who speaks extemporaneously 10 hours a day for 2 years straight is bound to screw the pooch every so often.”
Yes you are.
“Congratulations on being there when it was McCain’s turn.”
His turn? He’s doing it a lot more than the others are, and he’s doing it a lot more often then in 2000 when he ran for president last. Granted, z_adura is right, McCain is not very eloquent in these settings. However, he is also old, and people will start whispering about that the more he screws up like this.
He really needs to stop saying “my friends” all the time. He sounds oily. With a capital O that rhymes with NO.
midderpidge: “He really needs to stop saying ‘my friends’ all the time. He sounds oily. With a capital O that rhymes with NO.”
He sounds like a used car salesman trying to unload a lemon.

How old are you, paul? Apparently to young to have noticed what happened last time there was a “stark difference” between the candidates.
Back in the 2000 campaign, every single major media observer said Al Gore won his first debate against George Bush. Solidly. Convincingly.
Within just a few days, the yakkers reversed that by focusing on Mr. Gore’s troubling sighs and by failing to notice when Mr. Bush misstated the positions posted on his own campaign web site.
Sure, there’ll be a stark difference between the candidates. And they’ll be covered by the same dishonest crackpots who fixed the game in the past.
“Sure, there’ll be a stark difference between the candidates. And they’ll be covered by the same dishonest crackpots who fixed the game in the past.”
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…
The Democrats’ toughest opponent this year will be the media, not the Republicans.
