Mark Penn Not In It To Win It?
The Clinton campaign has sent a letter to the NY Times signed by campaign staffers and volunteers saying that they’re in the campaign until the end, in order to counter a negative story about widespread dejection that ran earlier this week. Listed are people like communications director Howard Wolfson, former campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle, and current campaign manager Maggie Williams.
Mark Penn, the campaign’s chief strategist and pollster, is not listed as a signer.

Oliver, that’s easy. If they’re in it to win it, they have Mark Penn duct-taped in the trunk of one of their cars.
Mark Penn must have been at a book promotion event on the day that memo got passed around.
Good one, Bruce! ROTFL
To me, last night was just another example of the Tim Russerts and Chris Matthews and Maureen Dowds exerting their petty, evil influence on the Democratic Party’s choices for leadership.
Imagine where we’d be right now if AL Gore had won in 2000? Hell, imagine where we’d be if Howard Dean had won in 2004.
But no, these media vampires will insist for the sake of their cheap news cycles and their cool-kidz reputations with the Village that the world is as they say it is. And make it so.
So we get debased, puerile, insulting questions asked of our Dem candidates about tax returns, about Louis Farrakhan, about African garb.
And that’s where we are.
Instead of allowing Hillary and Barack to debate head-to-head on issues, instead of allowing them to shine, we get tabloid dirt. And then more dirt, until both candidates get covered and the Russerts can walk away nodding “Hmmph. Politicians. We told you so.”
I can hardly wait for the General Election cycle, when every piece of right-wing bullshit, from Rezko to Rev. Wright, or from Gennifer Flowers to Whitewater, will get flung, and these despicable monsters will pick it up and fling if further until they get it to stick. And where McCain will be propped up by them and treated like a white knight just so they can continue to have a juicy debate and “news” to discuss among themselves.
Until we get rid of the MSM’s influence on Primaries we will never get the candidates Americans deserve.
Former campaign manager Patti SolisDoyle? Didn’t she get fired?
Duros, where you been? Solis-Doyle stepped down and was replaced by Maggie Williams.
As for Penn, he apparently doesn’t sign anything he’s not getting paid to sign.
Mark Penn wins either way. He’s making millions win or lose. And some other loser will hire him in 4 to 8 years.
There is no down side for him or any other Dem consultant who has never won a race.
