Republican Culture Of Corruption: Trent Lott & Rick Renzi Edition
Tweet
Well this explains one of those sudden GOP retirements.
Federal agents are investigating whether former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott knowingly played a role in an alleged conspiracy in 2006 to influence a Mississippi judge presiding over a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against famed plaintiff attorney Richard “Dickie” Scruggs, according to people familiar with the situation.
Mr. Lott, who is a brother-in-law to Mr. Scruggs, unexpectedly announced his resignation from the Senate two days before Mr. Scruggs was indicted last November. Since then, Mr. Lott has been interviewed by federal agents at least once, according to a person familiar with the case.
And another.
The U.S. Attorney’s office in Arizona has indicted Rep. Rick Renzi on federal fraud charges relating to an alleged illegal land deal, FOX News has learned.
The charges include conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering, concealment of money laundering, transactions with criminally derived funds, extortion, insurance fraud and criminal forfeiture.
In the sweeping indictment, federal authorities charged Renzi with a host of charges connected to a land-swap arrangement Renzi tried to execute in Arizona.
The indictment also names business associate James Sandlin, and Maryland attorney Andrew Beardall.
Renzi resigned his committee assignments last year and announced he would not stand for re-election this fall.
As usual with Republican presidential candidates, Renzi is a part of John McCain’s “Leadership” team.

Will John McCain repudiate Renzi? Inquiring minds wanna know.
This could hurt McCain, if everyone wasn’t so busy speculating about his love life. His biggest asset this November is his ability to claim he’s not part of the Republican culture of corruption. Of course the Keating Five proves that is wrong, but more recent examples would be better.
So what if he cheated on his first wife and maybe on his second wife AND he lied about doing special favors for his contributors AND his campaign is full of crooks. He’s a POLITICIAN! GET OVER IT!

You do realize that Richard Scruggs is a Hillary Clinton supporter and was going to hold a fundraiser for her at his home, right?
And….?
