Cindy McCain In Denial
Tweet
“More importantly, my children and I not only trust my husband, but know that he would never do anything to not only disappoint our family, but disappoint the people of America. He’s a man of great character,” Cindy McCain said.
Although he was still living with his wife, he was aggressively courting a 25-year-old woman who was as beautiful as she was rich.
That troubled period was perhaps the crucial turning point in John McCain’s life, and the decisions that he made then started him on the course that he hopes will take him to the White House in January. In just a few years from those times of soul-searching in his office as Navy liaison to the Senate, Mr. McCain would have a new wife, a new home state and a bright new political star as president of the class of newly elected Republican members of the House of Representatives.
For a candidate running on character and biography, it is also an awkward time to remember: Mr. McCain abandoned his wife, who had reared their three children while he was in Vietnamese prisons, and he then began his political career with the resources of his new wife’s family.

Shorter Cindy:
“So what if he screwed around on his first wife with me? That’s no reason for me to think he would do it again.”
Sorry, America, but McCain keeps lying to us. The man will say anything to get elected. You simply can’t trust a man like that. Here’s another whopper from St. Straight Talk:
“Everybody says that they’re against the special interests. I’m the only one the special interests don’t give any money to.”
–John McCain, November 2007
Except when the Telecom special interests employ sexy lobbyists, have private planes, and give Saint McCain tens of thousands of dollars in campaign contributions, that is.
Thank God Senator Clinton never had to worry about anything like this while she was First Lady!
I can’t tell, Matt, if this is just weak sarcasm or the most brazen example of pretzel logic ever.
“McCain may be a cheater, but Hillary Clinton was cheated on. Zing!”
Spider,
Did you read either the title, or the first paragraph of the post?
I think we’re talking about Cindy McCain here. Only the liberal parrot commmenters like you seem to want to pound on John McCain some more (and there’s a whole fresh brand of liberal hypocrisy in arguing that a politician’s sex life, real or imagined, should be part of the public record, yes? But why go there?).
You can take my comment in one of two ways, and neither involves the pretzel logic you’ve employed to twist my comment to try to make your point.
1. Either my comment was sarcastic – because it’s impossible to argue based on facts in evidence that Hillary ever HAD REASON to trust her husband; or
2. My comment was ironic – because it’s also impossible to argue based on facts in evidence that Hillary ever ACTUALLY trusted her husband.
In the first case, Hillary must have been in denial (like Cindy McCain, according to Oliver); or
In the second case, Hillary must be a cold, soulless power-hungry bitch who slept her way almost – DAMN, SO CLOSE! – to the top.
Take your pick.
If Hillary was running for first lady and Monica Lewinsky was a lobbyist maybe your comment would make sense… naaa, it still wouldn’t.
Besides, it isn’t the sex (if there was any, McCain’s an old man and Republicans aren’t known for their virility), it’s the influence peddling.
“You can take my comment in one of two ways…”
Yes. Either your comment shows you are a fucking moron, or it shows you are a fucking idiot.
It’s a simple case of, ‘But, but, but Clinton.’
McCain is running on a platform that he is above the typical failings of a politician. But here the story is he cheated on his wife with a lobbyist, and then helped the people she was lobbying for.
In other words, he is another member of the Republican party that talks about family values and then has none, and he is involved in influence peddling.
However, we already knew both of these. It is clear from the information above that he didn’t take his first set of wedding vows seriously, and the Keating Five proves the second point.

It can’t be both? You crack me up CSS. Don’t ever change.
This reminds me of the TV show Titus when Christopher Titus’s dad gets caught cheating on his third wife (or was it fourth). He says to her…
‘I cheated on my last wife with you. Why did you think this time it would be any different?’
You libs don’t even try to mask your hypocrisy. After whining and bitching for years that Bill Clinton indiscretions were “no one’s business” now here you are tripping over yourselves about a story that’s 8 years old. Never mind the fact that the leftwing NYTimes has had this story for a while (Drudge reported it back in December). And playing the adultery card will hardly work in the Dems favor as Bill’s antics (with Monica Lewinsky, Paula Jones, Kathleen Wiley, Gennifer Flowers & Juanita Broaddrick) trumps anyone else’s. I think this is a huge NYSlimes blunder (Jon Stewart said as much on Larry King last night) and unless they’ve got some footage or accusations from the party’s involved, there’s nothing credible here.
I see the talking points have been distributed.

That would be right–if Bill was running for anything.
Genius.
That would be right–if Bill was running for anything.
Yeah, Bill’s definitely not running for anything in ’08 and his opinions no longer matter because his presidency was so long ago that its pretty much nonexistent.
Got it.
So am I to understand that all that pious talk about “values” and “restoring dignity” has been disappeared?
Quaker, you guys are reaching so far here that you’re about to fall flat on your ass. Relying on a 8yo retread based completely on hearsay to question McCain’s “values”? Are you that desperate? Half your base is already speaking out against the NYSlimes front-page smear because they know reckless tabloid journalism when they see it.
You surely don’t mean reporting on a decades old land deal or a “rape” that happened in the 1970′s right?
No chance of McCain running on a family values campaign. I wonder if his image as a maverick reformer is still intact, because he sure likes to do favors for those lobbyists he is always pointing fingers at. “They are evvvviiiiiiillllll!!!” he screams with his fingers crossed behind his back and his pockets filled with their cash.
Look at all the quotes lefties dug up of McCain decrying lobbyists influence, the negative effexts of their money, promising to never involve himself in a regulatory process; all from the exact time he was cozy with this lobbyist, doing favors for her clients, accepting their cash, and involving himself in regulatory processes on behalf of her clients.
You libs don’t even try to mask your hypocrisy.
It’s not hypocrisy, it’s called “you reap what you sow”.
It isn’t the sex you fucking retard.
Relying on a 8yo retread based completely on hearsay to question McCain’s “values”?
And yet your immediate inclination is to holler “Bill Clinton!!”
You’re a funny guy, Mr. Ghost.
And yet your immediate inclination is to holler “Bill Clinton!!”
Yeah, how dumb of me to mention Bubba, I mean he’s been such a non-factor in this presidential campaign, who talks about him anymore?
