People don’t like the congress because they are not doing enough to stop Bush, and they won’t vote for more Republicans because of that.

Its funny you say that Farris, maybe its that the public is getting tired of Republican obstructionism. The Democratic party has much higher favorable ratings. Across a broad spectrum of issues, the American public thinks Democrats would do a better job of handling its problems.

I wouldn’t count on that switch.

Maybe you’re kidding, but what would be different with McCain? Under McCain, we’d continue to put our head in the sand about Federal deficits, continue to do nothing about healthcare, continue to do nothing about global warming, continue to do nothing about fuel security and alternative energy, continue to reward capital over labor, continue to spend money on fruitless foreign entanglements, continue to elect horrible judges, continue to chip away at civil liberties. As long as there is the means of obstruction among Republicans, they will obstruct. The only difference that I can see is that McCain doesn’t even pretend to be compassionate.

Oh, get out of here. McCain is not “more of the same” – why do you think the Republican establishment hates him so much? Yes he has favored the most recent incantation of the Iraq policy and flip-flopped on taxes, but if you really think a McCain administration will be anything like a Bush administration, you need to put down the kool aid, son.

Of course Farris and the other wingers avoid the fact that the Congress’ unpopularity results from the fact that it was given a mandate to STOP Bush’s policies, and it has steadfastly refused to do so.

Except something like 40 GOPers have resigned their seats and there’s no serious pickup opportunities in the Senate except remotely maybe Louisiana. Americans don’t like what’s going on in Washington, but they rightly mostly still blame the GOP and its president.
