The battle against McCain should involve…

1.) Pointing out to Republicans that he is / was against a lot of core values

while at the same time …

2.) Pointing out to Independents that he is not the maverick that so many think he is.

This will weaken his ability to raise money and get volunteers while at the same time lessen his big strength with independents.

Also, linking the economic troubles with the Iraq war. (Use the clips of him saying, ‘I don’t know much about economics’ as well as ‘There will be more wars’ and ‘Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.’)

Quayle wasn’t politically out of step, just kinda dumb. Huckabee believes the apocalypse would be a good thing. Also, the opposition research on that dude is amazing. You have the Dumond scandal, as well as his weight loss surgery coverup.

I agree, but I want to note that McCain always comes off a lot less charismatic than I expect him to. I think Hillary benefits at debates and town halls because people have an exaggeratedly negative preconceived notions about her, and she then exceeds them. McCain is the opposite: he’s kind of a dick, to put it bluntly. Now, I don’t really care about whether any given candidate is an asshole or not, but I think the more people see him in forums, the more people will be disappointed in him.

Also, on Huckabee: I’m praying he’ll be the VP nominee. If he is, we start printing up the “Heartbeat-Away Huckabee” t-shirts and watch the independent voters flee the GOP in droves.

I wish this incident would come up more frequently in regards to McCain. Hopefully, whichever Democrat wins the nod will remember to use it.

Also, point out how he called the Religious Right, ‘agents of intolerance’ in the past but is now sucking up to them. This will show Independents that he is not a Maverick. Also, it will show the intolerant wing of the Republican party that he is not one of them. That could help convince them to not vote for him. (Maybe they will vote for Ron Paul.)
