Target: McCain

Sen. Clinton and Sen. Obama, you both have battled so far to what is more or less still a draw. Recent history has shown that neither campaign benefits from out front barbs against each other, and while I expect for the “under the radar” campaign to always be back and forth, I would suggest for your public statements to now focus yourselves on one named target: John McCain.

johnmccaincrazylaugh.jpgBarring the resurrection of Zombie Regan, McCain is the GOP frontrunner and almost a lock for the nomination. Regardless of the GOP base’s disaffection for him, they are still likely to rally around him in order to hold on to the White House. He also has more appeal to independents and Democrats than is comfortable.

In order to counteract that and also demonstrate to primary voters your national appeal, it’s time to brutally compare yourselves and the Democratic party versus John McCain and his party. Personalize it, define him anew in the public mindset. Compete with each other over who best knocks McCain off his perch.

McCain is a pro-war supply sider who has expressed his desire to prolong the Bush disaster domestically and internationally. He also happens to be a decade to three decades older than both of you.

Contrast, brutalize, and destroy. Then win.

  1. Also, point out how he called the Religious Right, ‘agents of intolerance’ in the past but is now sucking up to them. This will show Independents that he is not a Maverick. Also, it will show the intolerant wing of the Republican party that he is not one of them. That could help convince them to not vote for him. (Maybe they will vote for Ron Paul.)

USS Forrestal. Bring that up at every debate. The old fucker will lose it big time.

  3. We could always have an Obama / Clinton ticket. Black man ahead of a white woman on the ticket and just watch the Macaca moments fly!

    Charles Keating. Never forget him.

WHy does McCain physically remind me of Dr. Evil? He is kind of hunched, moves slow, looks lost in today’s world and kind of maunders when he talks.

    Amen.

I wish this incident would come up more frequently in regards to McCain. Hopefully, whichever Democrat wins the nod will remember to use it.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but McCain’s “safe” Baghdad stroll can be summed up with far less–”Either blind, disingenuous, or both.”

I agree, but I want to note that McCain always comes off a lot less charismatic than I expect him to. I think Hillary benefits at debates and town halls because people have an exaggeratedly negative preconceived notions about her, and she then exceeds them. McCain is the opposite: he’s kind of a dick, to put it bluntly. Now, I don’t really care about whether any given candidate is an asshole or not, but I think the more people see him in forums, the more people will be disappointed in him.

Also, on Huckabee: I’m praying he’ll be the VP nominee. If he is, we start printing up the “Heartbeat-Away Huckabee” t-shirts and watch the independent voters flee the GOP in droves.

    That didn’t work with Quayle.

  10. Dr. Victor Davis Handjob says:

Quayle wasn’t politically out of step, just kinda dumb. Huckabee believes the apocalypse would be a good thing. Also, the opposition research on that dude is amazing. You have the Dumond scandal, as well as his weight loss surgery coverup.

Dude, that wasn’t his fault. The missile hit his plane; it’s not like he fired it.

Someone heard you. Hillary Clinton’s target on her Super Tuesday speech was clearly the Republican Party and its nominee. I wish Obama had followed suit.

  13. The battle against McCain should involve…

1.) Pointing out to Republicans that he is / was against a lot of core values

    while at the same time

2.) Pointing out to Independents that he is not the maverick that so many think he is.

This will weaken his ability to raise money and get volunteers while at the same time lessen his big strength with independents.

Also, linking the economic troubles with the Iraq war. (Use the clips of him saying, ‘I don’t know much about economics’ as well as ‘There will be more wars’ and ‘Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran.’)

  14. Another issue. He refused to vote for the stimulus package. Another strike against his economic record.

It is widely believed in the Navy that McCain started the USS Forestfire by shooting the plane in front of him.
    Who cares if it’s true?
