Some are now saying that the comparison of Sen. Obama to President Kennedy is bad, based on the details of Kennedy’s presidency. Who are these people? Seriously. Who the heck are they? Is it any wonder Dems lose elections based on these sort of Excel-spreadsheet analysis of public sentiment.
President Kennedy is historically seen as the optimistic leader, slain in the prime of his life and the mystical force behind sweeping changes that came to America.
This is a gut reaction, not one tabulated by weighing numbers on a scale. This is how people think, this is how they make these decisions. President Clinton learned this and used it well. Other progressives should learn and put their slide rules away.
I wouldn’t say they’re “bad,” but it’s just like the MLK Jr. references I’ve heard: a little premature. You can’t compare JFK the US President to Barack Obama the Presidential Candidate.
Should Obama win the White House? Then we can start that kind of debate. I will say that politically there are similarities.
It seems really simple.
They are both pretty candidates with young children in the prime of their lives bringing a new found ethnic/religious dynamic and inspiring rhetoric disrupting the natural Democratic party order.
To delve any deeper only shows you just dont WANNA see the base comparison.
This must burn… As of right now (2am US/EST, Feb 7), it says:
Hillary & Bill Clinton Just gave their campaign $5 Million.
Since the polls have closed Feb. 5 our supporters have given $6,495,367.
Matched and more in 1 (one) day.
If Saturday goes the way the pundits expect, it’ll soon be time for the Clintons to either a) hang up their hats or b) go really negative, giving McCain a real chance.
