Golf Channel anchor Kelly Tilghman has made a round of apologies after saying that young golf players should "lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley" as a way to compete with the most dominant player in the sport’s history, ESPN reported Tuesday.

    I’m glad to see Ms. Tilghman hasn’t tried to make excuses for the comment–they’re aren’t any.

    There are about 98 ways she could have put across the idea that Woods is such a dominant player that all competitors must consider him the man to beat. Yet she chose the word “lynch.” That choice can rise from only one place.
