Superman For Obama
Tweet
How did I miss this?
Actor and Iowa native Brandon Routh is better-known for his role as Superman, but Sunday night he made a cameo appearance on the campaign trail, speaking on behalf of Illinois Sen. Barack Obama at a rally in Indianola, Iowa.
Routh says he is "sad" that he can’t caucus any more because he no longer lives in the Hawkeye State, but he says he’s "excited" by Obama’s ability to unite the country. He also says he likes that Obama is not taking money from lobbyists or special interests.
Routh says he hopes his visit will empower people to caucus for Obama.
Of course, the signs were already there.

I’ve always kinda wondered how that worked, loaning money to your own campaign. Does Romney (or any politician) really expect to get their money back? If the campaign needs a loan, and ends up going nowhere, does the candidate lose their money?
I’d certainly be less inclined to donate if I believed my donation was going right into the candidate’s own pocket, literally, because the campaign was paying them back.
I wonder if I could “loan” money to the campaign. Would my loan be subject to limits on contributions? I mean, I’m not giving it to them, just loaning it. While the campaign works out its cash flow and waits for actual donations from others.
Then later the campaign can pay me back. Or if they default, maybe I can claim some kind of loss on my taxes (which I can’t do with my contribution, really.)
Hey, Oliver, have you ever been to Metropolis? I thought of you when I stopped there last year. If I pass through again (I live about 2 hours away), do you want me to get you a T-shirt?
Have to say that I sort of love that pic of Obama. Part of his appeal is that he’s a bit of a geek, no matter how brilliant or polished he may be. Also, having met the guy once, he’s polite, attentive and humble. I just wonder if that will work for or against him as a candidate/president.
I haven’t been, but I plan to make the Superman festival at some point. I mean, I’ve got to, right?
