Just polarizing on the bitch front will swing a few independent and right-leaning women over to Clinton, if she wins outright. It’s enough in a polarized world split by a few hundred thousand votes.

I’d rather she not be the nominee, but if she is, she’s the Democratic equivalent to Karl Rove. She’ll play situations to short-term gain with ease.

Any truly contended convention should create such division. It’s actually rather healthy, if managed right. I’ve always been amazed at the unity of American leadership conventions. In Canada in virtually every party, a coronation at the convention is the exception, and those coronated have mixed records at best.

Bullshit. Hillary Clinton actually steals a lot of Republican women. Also, there will be at least one right wing third party candidate this year (Ron Paul), who will steal 4 or 5 percentage points from the Republicans. Maybe enough to be considered an official party and be eligible for Federal funds. But at this point he might not need the money to match the Republicans.

If Giuliani or Romney wins, the Evangelicals will freak, maybe even leave the party for a Christian Right party. If McCain wins, he’ll lose the racist, xenophobic vote. If Thompson win… someone will have to wake him from his nap.

Our current Liberal leader in Canada got the gig after finishing fourth on first ballot in a brokered convention. Anything is possible in a four or five person race. It should be very interesting.

I can’t see Thompson or Giuliani making the cut though. Thompson’s IA surge is already boring, and even Iowa thinks so. And Giuliani is flaming out so bad he’s off everyone’s VP list, I’d bet.

He’s going to have a hard time backing off $20M in funds to support the top three, all of whom gladly piss all over Paul’s noble, if delusional, positions.

In a Huckabee, Romney and McCain showdown, though, it’s anyone’s guess. I’m guessing McCain. Huckabee has too many enemies from within and would tank on the main stage, and Romney’s simply too full of bullshit.
