Rick Perlstein seems to think that the subpoenas served on Al Sharpton’s operation are related somehow to the upcoming election. While I don’t put anything past the right-wing stooges infecting our government, I just don’t buy it here. Sharpton has a long and checkered past of shady activity and in all likelihood this is that past catching up with him. The guy is right on the issues on occasion, but that doesn’t change the fact that he is much too compromised to be a serious civil rights leader.
