Here are a couple of links you might have missed, Oliver, for your roundup:
Gun nut kills man in church with concealed handgun
Chavez rigged election to save face and avoid military coup
I realize these stories are still developing and not fully nailed down, but you may want to keep an eye on these events with a mind towards revising this piece and this one…

Clearly you can’t read, because I posted on the security guard and not the gun nut who protected the church. And as far as Chavez goes, unlike conservatives, I don’t pretend to know what goes on in the minds of foreign leaders. What I do know is that cons were dead certain he would rig the vote in his favor. That clearly didn’t happen.
Actually, I did see your piece on Ms. Assam before I posted. I wonder if YOU had actually read about the incident, though, because you’ve completely misrepresented what happened — especially in the matter of Ms. Assam’s status. She is NOT a cop, she is NOT a private security guard (like, say, those employed by companies like Blackwater), she was simply a concerned private citizen who chose to exercise her 2nd Amendment rights to keep and bear arms as an individual — and consequently saved countless lives.

Who was a former cop. With a licensed, registered firearm she received prior training for. Volunteering to be a security guard at the church with the church’s express permission. So yes, this is a clear thumb in the eye for all those pro-gun control liberals, what with the way sensible gun control worked perfectly in this situation.
Look, I understand you’re still all sore that the gunman turned out to be a white home-schooled Christian, meaning “Plan A” for how you were going to exploit this round of tragedy for a smug personal agenda had to go out the window, but snarking about this like it’s a validation of the right-wing gun porn fantasy of having Glocks available next to the Cheetos in the vending machine only makes you look stupider than usual.
Whoops, the security guard didn’t do it. Reuters is reporting that he shot himself.
