An eyeroll is not enough to communicate how stupid civil rights leader Andrew Young sounds here:
“There are more black people that Bill and Hillary lean on,” Young said. “You cannot be president alone. … To put a brother in there by himself is to set him up for crucifixion. His time will come and the world will be ready for a visionary leadership.”
Young also quipped that “Bill is every bit as black as Barack.”
This sounds very much like the case to be made against the last generation of black leadership. You were great, you won your battle magnificently, but you’re past your time. President Clinton was a great leader who acknowledged black America in a way no previous president had, but he is not black and Barack Obama is.
