Surge To Hillary?

I’ve got no data to base this on, just a gut feeling, but I think in the last few days before the Iowa caucus we could very well see voters break in favor of Sen. Clinton. Why? I think a vague sense of the unknown with Sen. Obama, coupled with some movement from the Bhutto assassination may make Sen. Clinton the “safe” choice for Iowa’s older, less liberal Democrats. Looking at caucus history, “daring” doesn’t exactly describe their past choices.
HOW ABOUT THEM REDSKINS?
Redskins: 27
Cowboys: 6
Four straight wins, a resounding victory over the Cowboys and the Playoffs?
Dallas Cowboys had one rushing yard. One.

Redskins Playoff Appearances between Joe Gibbs retirement to his return (1993-2003): 1
Redskins Playoff Appearances since Gibbs’ return (2004-present): 2
Coincidence? Nay. Joe Gibbs.
Return of the East: 3 of the 4 teams in the NFC East are in the playoffs (Skins, Girls, and Giants)
The Independent Vote

Independents are wavering between McCain and Obama in New Hampshire. Does that translate to more independent appeal in the general election for Sen. Obama than Sen. Clinton? It’s possible.
Moderate Mitt Romney Strikes Again
Tweet
There are two Mitt Romneys. The Mitt Romney who ran for senate and who was elected governor of Massachusetts, and the Mitt Romney of the last year or so who has recast himself as a conservative who changed his “effectively pro-choice” position in order to curry favor with the conservative vote that determines the Republican nomination. The problem for Current Mitt is that Moderate Mitt left a trail that’s pretty easy to find. Today’s revelation is that as Governor, Romney okayed funds for a Planned Parenthood clinic. Now, there’s nothing wrong with that – it’s frankly a good thing. But it doesn’t reconcile with the rhetoric of the most disingenuous candidate in presidential history.

Why teams think that you shouldn’t cover Randy Moss. I’m watching the NY Giants here just give up a touchdown to the Patriots (giving them them the lead 31-28) that wouldn’t have been wrapped up better if it were under a Christmas tree. When the Skins got walloped by them, they let Moss go, and the Giants seem to not get that it’s worth it to cover that guy. Try it, it works.
The Latest Nail In The Coffin Of The “Liberal Media” Myth
Tweet
Iraq War cheerleader and all around very wrong and disingenous conservative pundit Bill Kristol gets an op-ed column in the “liberal” New York Times. That would be like Paul Krugman getting a column in the NY Post or Wall Street Journal, or someone remotely to the left of Atilla the Hun. Not gonna happen.
But the media is liberal, a vast cabal of leftists working to tear down the right. And unicorns. Lotsa unicorns.

Does anybody think that with the circular firing squad the GOP field is engaging in: Romney vs McCain vs Huckabee, that the DNC research team is probably going to send them all a canned ham to thank them for saving them work? The Dems are slugging it out too, but we’ve seen the GOPers fighting tooth and nail with data that is likely to hurt the eventual nominee down the line.
Two Recent Movies: Juno, I Am Legend
Tweet
Juno: Great comic writing and not too “look at me, I’m quirky” acting (Wes Anderson, I’m looking at you and your suck movies). Not many have noted it but Allison Janey gets to bring the humor you didn’t get to see too often from the West Wing to her character. I hope Ellen Page, the star, gets more roles. Recommended.
UPDATE: I would also note that if conservatives approached the issue of abortion like Juno and Knocked Up have, they’d do a better job convincing people against abortion. But at the heart of both films is the choice of the main characters not to have an abortion. The choice.
I Am Legend: I enjoyed this as well, very reminiscient of a more sci-fi oriented Castaway. Love the integration of Bob Marley with the plot. The ending was a little too convenient, but still a nicely put together film. Recommended.
