Mitt Romney: No Muslims In My Cabinet
Tweet
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a presidential candidate ever reject appointing an entire group of people just like that.
I asked Mr. Romney whether he would consider including qualified Americans of the Islamic faith in his cabinet as advisers on national security matters, given his position that “jihadism” is the principal foreign policy threat facing America today. He answered, “…based on the numbers of American Muslims [as a percentage] in our population, I cannot see that a cabinet position would be justified. But of course, I would imagine that Muslims could serve at lower levels of my administration.”
As Radar points out, the amount of Muslims in America is comparable to the amount of Mormons in the country.

Let me paraphrase that for you, Oliver:
“Long-time Clinton backer and big-time Democratic donor says Romney won’t appoint Muslims to his cabinet; Romney denies saying any such thing.”
See http://www.captainsquartersblog.com/mt/archives/016122.php for more details. Ed Morrissey does something you might have heard of before; it’s called “homework.”

LOL, citing Captain’s Quarters as real news. Talk about scraping past the scum on the bottom of the barrel. Surely the writer just put those thoughts into Romney’s own mouth and that’s why they’re spinning the story so furiously.
Funny, Oliver, I thought Ed cited sources and showed links and stuff. But it’s so much easier to “shoot the messenger,” isn’t it?
Ed offered some hefty evidence that the guy who apparently had a one-on-one chat with Mitt Romney at a fundraiser has not only never given one penny to Romney, but has a lengthy history of donating to Democrats and was involved in Bill Clinton’s 1996 re-election campaign. The idea that such a guy might have a smidgen of an interest in discrediting Romney is so remote to you, that you won’t even look at the proof?
Damn The Facts, Agenda Uber Alles. You ought to make THAT your motto, and stop ripping off DC Comics.
J.
Two things, Jay Tea. First of all, you “paraphrase” that “Romney denies ever saying such a thing,” when Morrissey himself writes:
Romney, while not specifically denying the quote…
He clarifies, but does not deny. And I won’t hold my breath waiting for any Republican presidential hopeful to admit out loud that there are Muslims in this country who aren’t just suicide-bombers-in-waiting, who might in fact be excellent Cabinet material.
And secondly, your accusation that Oliver is “shooting the messenger” is funny, when you consider that the thrust of Morrissey’s post is that Mansoor Ijaz cannot be trusted to report the facts because he’s supported the Clintons in the past.
In other words, Morrissey is also “shooting the messenger.”

OH NOES! More of your b.s. goes sliding down the drain.
By the way, how is a reference to Kryptonite in anyway “ripping off” D.C.? For the love of God, try to think before you type these stupid things.

“If he thought before he blogged, he couldn’t be a conservative blogger.”
There have to be smart conservatives out there. The law of averages dictates that there has to be at least a couple of them. But quite frankly, I can’t think of them off the top of my head. The avalanche of stupidity coming from their side is so great it buries any intelligence they might otherwise possess.
