The Mitt Romney Curiosity
Tweet
Mitt Romney has spent a lot – a whole lot – securing the Iowa and New Hampshire races. But hasn’t he kind of screwed up the expectations game? Iowa is just not as important for the GOP as it is for the Dems, and New Hampshire is right next door to the state Romney was governor of (the 2004 result went Kerry-Dean, both neighboring pols as well). Isn’t the real fight in the GOP for who comes in after Romney?
South Carolina seems to be the GOP’s real race and Romney is not up there. I say this because after all the millions he’s spent and all the media coverage he’s gained, Mitt Romney is in SINGLE DIGITS nationally.
Romney seems dead set on buying the Republican nomination, but I have a suspicion that the base isn’t willing to sell out to him.

Republicans admire power above all else. They have no morals, no values, no desires above power. If Romney can win Iowa, he will see a bounce in the polls. If he wins Iowa and New Hampshire, he will become the favorite, even in places like South Carolina.
The only one who can beat him nationally is Giuliani, and he’s big selling point is his ability to beat Clinton. However, if he can’t win at least one early state, there will be a lot of talk that he can’t beat Clinton either.
