The mistake Michael Crowley of The New Republic makes here is assuming that the freak show is generated by Sen. Clinton’s presence. The Republican-operated freak show, that gets the press to amplify b.s. smears of Democrats, is applicable to any candidate the Democrats pick. You’d be loathe to find two guys with less skeletons in their closets than John Kerry and Al Gore, and yet the two of them can swap war stories until the cows come home. Their machine will strike anyone who becomes the Democratic candidate – they don’t give a crap who it is. The only Clinton factor is that they hate her so viscerally they inevitably go overboard from saying she put the wrong sort of dressing on her burger to accusing her of running cocaine for the cartel (which works out as a plus for her I think because even the lapdog useless mainstream media has a hilarity threshold).
The only “hyperpartisanship” associated with Hillary Clinton comes from the viscious far right wingers who attack, smear and lie about her with impunity.
I’ve never witnessed the Clintons behaving in a partisan manner. In fact, President Clinton went out of his way to cultivate bipartisanship, even appointing Republicans to some of the highest positions in his government.
Isn’t it completely insane that the far right wingers engage Hillary Clinton with such venomous huperpartisan attacks, yet the “Librul” media blames and smears Hillary for causing it?
Seriously, WTF has the lady ever done which remotely compares to the vile attacks against her?
Maybe individuals within the mainstream media exhibit such a “hilarity threshold” most of the time. But not all of them all the time. It only takes one member of the media to not exhibit such a threshold for a piece of typical BS to get “out there”. And then it’s pile-on city.
Then again, it’s not my job to watch the media all day; it’s yours. So it’s very possible I don’t get it and this hilarity threshold is a real and functioning thing.
A description of this hilarity threshold along with “contrary to popular belief this is how it works” would be much appreciated.
