America’s Pakistan Shame

The last time I checked, America was supposed to be the leader of the free world, standing up for the rights of democracy all over the globe. So, how long are we going to keep propping up a dictatorship in Pakistan?

And you wonder why the rest of the world rolls its eyes when we wag our finger at Chavez, Ahmadinejad, Castro, etc.

Nobody ever took us seriously. Why should they, with the regimes we’ve propped up in Iran, Saudi Arabia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Cuba, Nicaragua, Chile, Indonesia … the list is long. Fidel Castro, the only guy on your list who actually is a dictator (the other two hold power — and not much for Ahmadinejad — legimitately through elections), is a Cub Scout compared the other guys we’ve propped up in the same region.

  2. New developments in Pakistan are great news. They are putting Benazir Bhutto under house arrest, which should give her the sympathy needed to win elections in the country.

She’s not a perfect leader, but she’s not a Islamic extremist either. She could help lead the country in the right direction.

… Assuming they ever have elections.
