I wish there was a way to block people from posting here if they ran away from a debate.

It appears that, yet again, another right wing 'tard has run away instead of dealing with a counter-argument.

This is why I insult them, because they are not worth the effort.

So yet another sign of "turning the corner," eh?

Will the Right ever come to the realization that the time has long passed when they can point to any single event and say, "See? We were right all along!"

No matter what happens from today forward, the deaths of 4,000 American service people, the tens of thousands of injuries, the uncounted civilian deaths, the ethnic cleansing, the shattered lives, and the untold cost remain a stain that can't be washed away with raising a cross or rebuilding a school or waving a purple thumb.

The invasion of Iraq has been a colossal disaster, perhaps the single worst decision in our history. And yet they still keep looking for the pony.

Stop it Strowbridge. The millitary says...? C'mon, its not like the US military has a history of rigging these tests, right?

It's not like this system does anything other than make us safer, damn the exorbitant cost. It's not like Russia is pulling out of nuclear treaties or gearing up for another cold war right?

"Unfortunately for your argument, the Patriot system is not the ABM system that Fred is referring to. Excellent job proving his point, though."

I said is was a similar claim, not the same system. Did you even read my post before starting your response?

"Do you have any sources for your 'system fired 70% of the time' and 'zero Scuds shot down' claims? Or is this just something that 'everybody knows'?"

Watched it in a documentary about the first Gulf war several years back. Don't remember the name, but Wiki has information on it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriot_missile_system

(Cliff Notes Version: There were no confirmed hits and only a few possible of probably hits.)

"BTW, the Patriot was not initially designed to intercept ballistic missiles,"

I say this a lot, but it's very appropriate here.

So fucking what? I'm not talking about how useful the PATRIOT missile system was, I'm talking about how the military lied about its effectiveness.

The military said they had a successful test of the anti-ballistic missile system, but they are not a reliable source of information.

Do you understand?

It's like right is all in on this big game to pretend they are fucking idiots just to see how pissed off I can become.

Hey Fred,

Before we invaded in Gulf War I, there was a considerable Christian community in Iraq, about 1.4 million. In 2003, that number was about 1 million. Today, it is about 700,000, but sources in country suspect that number to be significantly lower due to forced conversion, killing and emigration. They are leaving Iraq in droves because we don't offer them security and the Iraqi security apparatus does not offer them security. Given these facts, it is not a smart idea to place an identifying mark on a Christian place of worship in Iraq. There is no harm in pointing that out.

If you really cared about these people or about more than scoring points with the blood of others, you would agree.

By the way, the patriot anti-missile system used the in the first gulf war was said to have a 70% success ration. However, that merely meant that when they pressed the button, the system fired 70% of the time. The actual number of scuds they shot down: Zero. So forgive me if I doubt similar claims this time.

Do you have any sources for your "system fired 70% of the time" and "zero Scuds shot down" claims? Or is this just something that "everybody knows"?

BTW, the Patriot was not initially designed to intercept ballistic missiles, it was designed to primarily shoot down aircraft. It was pressed into service in GW I because it was all we had to intercept Saddam's Scuds. The current ABM system under development, on the other hand, has been designed from the beginning with the intent to shoot down ballistic missiles. Not really an accurate comparison, but don't let that stop you. Apples & oranges and all that...

"You guys never respond, except with attacks against anything BUT the subject at hand."

Here's the thing, your claims have been made repeated, in some cases for decades, and they've never come true.

It seems pointless to argue the same points over and over again.

Of COURSE you did...then you woke up.

You guys never respond, except with attacks against anything BUT the subject at hand. I expect it. And there is a whole cadre (well all twenty of them) that read this and can see quite clearly whose point is made, unrebutted.

another good point spider, why try in Iraq. So now if all of our allies don't have perfect democracies, none of them should?

This is all a big effort to dance around the obvious progress made in Iraq. And it KILLS the democrat party, whose very survival depends on turning Iraq into a failure.

All of the leftist icons are coming down....Iraq getting demonstrably better, liberal think tanks coming out with studies proving leftist media bias...pretty soon we are going to get leaked copies of Bill Clinton's John Birch society card....

Cause I mean religious freedom doesn't really mean anything anyway.

Religious freedom is a good thing and a great goal to work towards. It is not, however, something you can just "install" in a region where different sects of the same religion are killing each other in the first place.

I dare you to try the same shit in Saudi Arabia or Pakistan. You know, our "allies."
