Conservatives, Racism, And Immigration
Tweet
I’d like to point you to the discussion here about how (from my perspective) conservative anti-immigration posturing keeps devolving into anti-hispanic rhetoric and eventually becomes a loser.

Face it, Oliver, you got your ass handed to you over there. You pulled out the tired “Racist Republicans” card, again, and failed, again, to prove that you are anything other than a partisan race-baiter.
Best comment (from a hispanic gentleman):
“Oh, and Oliver: you’re an idiot who doesn’t understand even the basics of hispanic culture, so don’t presume to lecture us on a topic you know nothing about. You, sir, are a racist”
Touche!
p.s. kind of quiet over here Oliver. Trying to stay relevant? You and the other ten percenters who refuse to recognize that Iraq is not in fact turning into a quagmire, the idea that you fervently hoped the Dems could ride into the White House in 2008. Better luck next time!
Ten percenters? What’s that a reference to, this?
Nov. 2-4, 2007
Do you favor or oppose the U.S. war in Iraq?
Favor: 31%
Oppose: 68% (the highest in the history of the poll)
No opinion: 1%

You can’t argue with stupid. Cons again and again go after hispanics then back away and claim they’re not racist.
“conservative anti-immigration posturing”
Oliver, you can’t even be honest and add the word “illegal” to your rant, can you? Because then that would threaten your whole “Republicans are Racist” canard.
Why debate a legitimate issue when you can simply ignore facts, smear your opponent as a racist and then pat yourself on the back for your awesome progressiveness?
You appear to be somewhat retarded, so I’ll try to spell it out for you as simply as possible. Conservatives are concerned about ILLEGAL immigration, not immigration in general. Most conservatives are all for immigration, as long as it’s done legally and fairly for all who want to migrate here (i.e. no “line jumping” for people who snuck in illegally).
“Cons again and again go after hispanics then back away and claim they’re not racist.”
Hey Oliver, how about those, you know, actual hispanics in the QandO thread who (correctly) pointed out YOUR racism? The only one referring to “brown-skinned” people there was YOU. If you think you’ve got a legitimate argument, why don’t you go back over to QandO and address some of the questions posed to you?
You’re a tool, Oliver. An increasingly irrelevant tool, but a tool nonetheless.
It’s the GOP’s new Southern Strategy.
“You start out in 1954 by saying, ‘N*gger, n*gger, n*gger.’ By 1968 you can’t say ‘nigger’ – that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states’ rights and all that stuff. You’re getting so abstract now [that] you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites.”
–Lee Atwater, 1981
“If an individual wants to discriminate against Negroes or others in selling or renting his house, he has a right to do so.”
–Ronald Reagan, 1966
“Most conservatives are all for immigration, as long as it’s done legally and fairly for all who want to migrate here (i.e. no “line jumping” for people who snuck in illegally).”
–Realist, 2007
Sorry, Handjob, but pulling out 26 and 41 year old quotes from Republicans really doesn’t do anything to refute my statement.
Please describe how anything that I said is in any way racist.
Do you disagree that most conservatives do support integration? Is it the “legally and fairly for all” part? Or is your problem with the “line jumping” part? You want to know what group hates “line jumping” most of all? Those people who are currently going through the legal immigration process. Does that make them a bunch of racists? In Progressive World, I guess so.
I’m sure Oliver is very proud of you.
