One of the things I wonder on those regular occasions when I wonder is this: how do conservatives and Republicans reconcile this sort of behavior from the political party and ideology they support? We on the left regularly have fights with our pols for not being progressive enough, for not being the perfect ideals we often think they should be. Rare is it that a Democrat is encouraged to be duplicitious in executing their duty as a public official. For us, yes there is the desire to see rough and tumble action versus the political opposition, but we have these crazy insane left wing Moveon.org blogger code pink latte drinking coastal elite ideas that when you’re in a position of governmental leadership you ought to stop spinning like a top and fucking lead like a human being.
Conservatives and republicans seem to clearly believe otherwise.
ABC News’ Jonathan Karl Reports: News flash — The White House has selectively edited a report on Iraq, taking out negative information and distorting the report’s meaning.
This isn’t about intelligence or weapons of mass destruction. It’s my report on Thursday’s evening on World News with Charles Gibson.
…
The report noted “violence in Iraq is down and down considerably” in virtually every category, but my report also noted that “there has been almost no political progress on the national level” and that “U.S. officials know military gains won’t mean much if the Iraqi government doesn’t get its act together.”
The White House sent out an edited version of my report in an official White House publication called “White House Iraq Update.”
Iraq Update is put together by the National Security Council and distributed by the White House via email to government officials, Congressional staffers, radio & television talk show hosts, journalists and foreign policy experts.
As edited by the White House, my report looked like an unqualified declaration of success in Iraq. The White House e-mail publication is headlined: “In Case You Missed It: “Violence Is Down in Iraq and Down Considerably.”
Yes, I’ve gone and used some foul language again. I am clearly one of those potty mouthed liberal bloggers. Surely, I, an easygoing guy who generally only yells at the tv when the Redskins are losing, have acquired this bizarre habit of having my soul sucked out of my body by these people who are absolutely dead set on trashing the country I love so much.
I apologize to my readers, but Jesus H. on a bike I hate these people.

Since I can’t seem to sign in as Retired Catholic, I’ll use the anonomous mode. The situation in Iraq is analogous to Operation Barbarosa, the Second World War German invasion of Russia. Hugely successful at first, but increasingly bloody as things went on, then came the Winter stalemate at the Gates of Moscow. The following year was essentially an even bloodier stalemate, and then came Stalingrad, where the Sixth Army under Von Paulus collapsed. The US Army and to a lesser extent the Marines are approaching tactical exhaustion and all the surge has accomplished is a stalemate that cannot last. We need to begin bringing our forces home, but just like Hitler, our fearless leader won’t here of it. Hitler’s Russian campaign robbed the Wermacht of the resources it needed to win in North Africa, which would have doomed the allies. Bush has robbed us of the resources we could have used to decisively defeat Bin Laden in Afghanistan. Those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it’s mistakes. We’re looking at our Stalingrad.
Like stalingrad, except, you know….we won in six weeks…
We are taking out the trash now…things are getting better every day. That Gibson has his panties in a wad over the WH using his stuff just demonstrates how desperate the left has become…gibson is afraid they’ll take away his prized seat at the Inaugural ball.
With the recent study demonstrating the liberal bias in the media (amazingly uncommented on by Oliver), Gibson should just be happy he managed to report enough truth that the white house saw fit to repeat it…
it is good that you hate these people, but by continuing to think that there is a difference between republican and democrat you are perpetuating the fallacy that the whole charade is based on, that we are a democracy with choices…
just change your thinking, and as a test, just say “the party” every time you are tempted to write R or D, and that single exercise will inform your thinking better than anything you could read or see on tv…
enjoy, gregory
