		<description>What I fail to get is why the Republicans are letting its base keep alienating a growing demographic, one that in 2004 went about 45% for Bush (about 10% more than usual) in large part because of Rove&#039;s courting. Are the nativists really so stupid that they think they can actually hold back the brown tide for once, in spite of the desire of their corporatist allies to keep the Mexicans crossing the border?

Yeah, I know the answer to that rhetorical question. I keep waiting for the corporatists to put the kibosh on Lou Dobbs and his buddies, since they could well hurt the bottom line.
