How Stupid Is The Anti-Immigration Element On The Right?

So stupid they really are believing that phony story about MECHA claiming responsibility for the California fires. The story is so fake it makes The Onion seem like straight news by comparison. And yet, they are so ready to seize on the outrage of the day about “those effing Mexicans” they believe it hook line and sinker.

To paraphrase Shrub: Some people call you the drooling morons, the idiot yokels too dumb to remember to breathe, the festering sore on the ass of humanity. Michelle Malkin calls you “the base”.

This means to me that he’s running for VP, not president. Otherwise, he’d be willing to take her on directly.

    MECHA?

Giant Japanese robots started the fires? Who knew?

    Time to call in Spectreman!

What I fail to get is why the Republicans are letting its base keep alienating a growing demographic, one that in 2004 went about 45% for Bush (about 10% more than usual) in large part because of Rove’s courting. Are the nativists really so stupid that they think they can actually hold back the brown tide for once, in spite of the desire of their corporatist allies to keep the Mexicans crossing the border?

Yeah, I know the answer to that rhetorical question. I keep waiting for the corporatists to put the kibosh on Lou Dobbs and his buddies, since they could well hurt the bottom line.
