National Review’s John Derbyshire: Hispanic Students = "Invasion"
But remember, they’re not racists, their anti-immigration sentiment is all about “national security” and not because they want America to be whites-only. Heaven forbid we listen to what racists like National Review’s John Derbyshire actually say:
In an October 18 entry — titled “Aztlan North” — on National Review Online’s blog The Corner, NRO columnist John Derbyshire cited the percentage of Hispanic students in the schools of Storm Lake, Iowa, and then wrote: “Say what you like, that is truly an invasion. Why on earth are we letting this happen?”

Huh. I spent many years as a child in Storm Lake, IA (moved away when I was 8). My brother graduated High School there and I have many friends who lived there until college. Was always a sleepy little town with a small college a (crummy, shallow) lake and a meat packing plant. That apparently is where the immigrants come in. Seems hard werkin’ ‘mericinz just wuzn’t applying for the jobs. Many people I know from there say the town does have a large hispanic population. Oddly enough Storm Lake is in Buena Vista county. The local (whities) pronounce it B-yoo-na V-iss-ta. Guess they’ll have to start pronouncing it B-ooo-ay-na V-ee-sta now…you know. The correct way. Oh the horror.
Go Tornadoes!
Derb even makes it a point to say that he doesn’t care if they’re legal or illegal. And I love how incredulous he is that no one in the town seems too bothered by it. They’re “POLITE” about this INVASION, OMG?!
Oh, and I’ll save our resident wingnuts the trouble:
“But…but…but…Robert BYRD!”
And to think I live maybe at most 10 miles away from that prick Derbyshire.
Johnny better start greeting the Hispanic liberators with rose petals if he knows what’s good for him.
He’s an immigrant, right? And stalkin malkin is an anchor baby, right?
Wow, they might be right, after all.
Zython might be on to something. Maybe the anti-immigration lobby should concede that we have been invaded by Latinos, and should instead move to that country they were so gung-ho about invading. The Iraqis can move into Syria, the Syrians can move into Lebanon, the Lebanese can move into Turkey, the Turks can move into Greece, the Greeks can move into Italy, the Italians can move to New Jersey, The New Jerseyans can move to New York, the New Yorkers can move to Los Angeles, and the Angelenos can move to Mexico. It’s a round robin world, baby!
