The Press Is Broken
Tweet
The NY Times does a photo investigation of which candidates do and don’t wear flag lapel pins. Seriously.
Why does the press do this? What compels them to be so stupid as an institution? We’ve got important issues – issues of life and death, issues of importance to every man, woman, and child on this planet.
And they’re covering lapel pins.
Seriously.

The press isn’t broken as much as it’s lazy. It’s easy to do stuff like this instead of delving into a real issue, doing your due diligence, organizing and analyzing facts, creating a point, backing up that point, etc.
That, and it keeps Limbaugh and his dittoholes off your case.
Why not lapel pins? We’ve had haircuts, and Hillary’s laugh and cleavage… I look forward to the real issue (for the male candidates): boxers or briefs. That will determine my vote…
Well, drinking beer with the President doesn’t work so well now, because of Bush, so why not vote for the guy/gal with the coolest lapel pin?
I agree with roundhead. But its not only lazy journalism, these stories are used to create a media narrative and to suppress real discussion of issues that affect our lives. If there is a narrative that “Obama is unpatriotic” than that marginalizes his foreign policy ideas.
The cynic in me assumes that some Republican pin factory created this skata out of nothing in consideration of a few well-placed donations.
