I love football more than the average person, but even I will concede that half of the motivational nonsense peddled by coaches is just that: nonsense. The most recent example of this was Kansas City head coach Herman Edwards during HBO’s pre-season series “Hard Knocks”. Edwards was consistently shown yammering about getting hot donuts, then screaming at the team after losing a preseason game, but rarely seen talking to players and his deputy coaches about… football.
This brings to mind this post from serial plagiarist Ben Domenech, asking his fellow cons to essentially “man up” for the big game. The problem is the GOP’s got a washout at quarterback, no line, a banged up secondary, etc. They don’t have the talent, but the coaches think yelling loud motivational things will be the ticket to ride.
So far, the only consisten motivation theme I’ve noticed is “Stop Hillary or America will become teh socialist!”
When I read Ben’s pep talk, this is the visual I get of him and his pals:

But they cheat and they play real dirty and they usually get away with it.
Where the **** are the referees?
Not to mention that their entire bench is filled with momma-boys and cowards. Their willing to get off their fat asses when their opponent is already on the ground and it’s time to put the boot in but run crying to some adult when some big, ol’ mean Democrat says something harsh to them.
