Um, I don't want to disparage the wonderful competence and sincerity of the other Democrats on the list-- especially those stalwart Senators whose tireless efforts kept us from illegally invading Iraq, forced the Bush administration to answer for its failures with 9/11 and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and saved the constitution from being shredded by Bush's far-right ideologue cabal.

No, there's nothing bad to be said about that bunch. But I confess to being largely unfamiliar with Mike Gravel, so maybe one of you gentlemen/ladies would be kind enough to provide a concrete example of his alleged lunacy? I mean, did he do something really insane, like vote in favor of a resolution that would give the Bush administration the political green light for illegally bombing the hell out of Iran?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Gravel is one of the few Dem candidates that pays attention and makes sense.

Last night for example he pointed out that Hillary voted for Liberman and Kyle's attack Iran amendment that day and all she could do is cackle like a warmongering fiend in response.

Gravel knows the deal and the frontrunners don't like it. Do you really need money if you only debate? He is a folksy stalking horse and with nobody else calling out neo-liberal Hillary he is our next best hope.

I don't support Gravel, but the reason he keeps getting invited to these debates is probably because the media needs his brand of nutty to make headlines out of.

That said, I'm glad he gets invited. We're supposed to live in a society where any candidate who wishes to run for President should be allowed to run for President, not just the ones with all the money and popularity.

I never liked that Nader was kept out of debates in 2000 and 2004. It just gave him more grist for his mill that he was an unfairly dismissed underdog, and that the Dems and Republicans were no different.

Why does he run?
Because Mike Gravel is the only candidate (With the exception of Ron Paul) that actually holds one ounce of credibility and integrity.

You can't buy these two candidates.
(Wish I could say the same for the rest of them)

Gravel vs Paul 08
If only we lived in a perfect society..
