Republican President Vetoes Health Care For Poor Children
Tweet
Even if you assume the GOP is honest on being fiscally conservative (the record would seem to say otherwise), this veto is just amazingly dumb politically.
The Republican voted against health care for poor children.
Like manna from political heaven.

And the reason he vetoed it? It’s not about the money, it’s about philosophy. He’s worried that if people see a government health plan that works, they won’t be scared of socialized health care.
It’s as simple as that.
C.S. pretty well nailed their expected excuse (“can’t have none of that socialized medicine crap”).
Could be an election that makes it into Guiness next year if the Democrats don’t screw it up.
Last night, 45 Rethugs saw political suicide and crossed over to support the S-CHIP bill in the House.
This was a major loss for Boehner, who tried desperately til the last minute to hold the crossovers down below 30.
I love it: Another example of excellent strategy by our Madam Speaker. And if Bush vetoes, guess what? She will probably reintroduce and keep it going til Election Day.
