Tiresome PS3 Fanboys
Tweet
Matt Haughey bought a PS3 and had serious problems with the system’s UI and how it handles various things, and yet the PS3 fanboys descended on his comments to proceed to tell him that what he saw did not in fact happen and that he had yet to see the glory of the PS3. It’s like a cult. I’ve heard those complaints about the PS3 elsewhere and even though my personal experience with the XBox’s three red rings of death was trying, my overall experience with the system has been beyond positive – especially the online component.

I don’t know about the PS3, but I love the way my Xbox 360 is hooked up to my network allowing me to view content from PC on my television through the 360. Also, the Xbox Live interface is extremely user friendly and all I remember of Playstation are my PS2 days and attempting to play online. When you knew who you were going to play, it was easy to get it going, but random gaming was a joke whereas with the Xbox, it’s very simple to get a game going with somebody else.
Well, not to give comfort or aid to ps3 fanboys, but I tend to think of fanboys in general (xbox, republicans or whatever) as tiresome — it’s not limited to just the ps3. I’m pretty sure had he bought an xbox 360 and complained in the same fashion, an onslaught of MS fanboys would leave similarly delusional comments.
Fanboyism (fundamentalism?) is just bad in general.
As a Cell fanboy (don’t ask), I have a soft spot for my PS3. However it’s certainly got its faults. The distribution network for PSN and firmware updates has been grossly overloaded, the availability of new downloadable games and demos on PSN pales in comparison to Live, and the audio/video format support is quite anemic. That said, the hardware has a tremendous amount of potential; I just hope Sony can keep the ball rolling long enough for developers to actually realize a good portion of it.
I’m not a hard-core gamer, but I love the Wii. Period.
Its wireless networking is so seamless; updates download rapidly (even on my DSL, through my pokey wireless router), likely the result of “efficient” coding on the part of Nintendo’s developers.
Gotta hand it to Sony, though, making MS look good by comparison.
