Some more popular and respected figures in the conservative base of the GOP: radio talk show host Melanie Morgan (who wrote that anti-Iraq war activist and veteran of that war himself, Jon Solz, should be "stomped and neutralized"), Tom Tancredo (anti-legal as well as anti-illegal immigration), James Dobson (made the bizarre claim that gay marriage would "destroy the earth" and implied in an e-mail that Fred Thompson's opposition to the Federal Marriage Amendment somehow meant that Thompson wanted the country to have 50 definitions of marriage), and Tom Delay (in his book, claimed that his indictment for money laundering meant that liberals were now comparable to the Nazis).
