Ah. You got lost. Been there. Well, I can see how that would dampen the experience.

I can tell you that the first game did have a lot more open space than it needed. They have fixed that.

I was just walking around in a field, doing nothing. I got bored real quick.

I'm currently playing Bioshock - which I love. I have a full-time job, work part-time as musician - and am raising a 19 month old child (and don't play violent games while she is awake) - so I don't have a lot of gaming time - and it takes me a while to get through a game.

It will be a while before I finish Bioshock - and Halo3 is definitely on my list. I've never played Halo 1 or 2 - so I'm looking forward to trying it out...

My son loves it and has been saving to buy Halo 3. I've never been a big fan of first person shooters. The only one I like is the 'Call of Duty' series and that's largely based upon the fact that it's much simpler. Guns and grenades. That's about it.

However, it is visually stunning and like Spider says, it has a very good backstory.

Question: Why has the game been rated M? I found the violence to be rather cartoonish (cmon..alien blood) and the language relatively tame (from what I remember). It's no more violent than 'Call of Duty 3' which is rated T.

I have to ask what you didn't like about it. I know that for many, myself included, HALO was my first experience with the new XBox controller, and I had the hardest time playing the game because of it, which I mistakenly transferred to disliking the game.

I was dead wrong. What's not to like about the game? A charismatic hero, exciting weaponry and vehicles, a twisting, turning plot, excellent scripting, beautiful art design, unique and different villains that express things like strategic thinking, defiance, and fear (and have a much richer backstory than your typical alien scourge, since the Covenant is actually a mixed-species cadre of religious fanatics), and a great replay factor.

Give it another shot, Oliver.
