Craig is a naive fool - he has seen the steady parade of morally & criminally challenged repubs the last few years - DeLay, Vitter, Cunningham, Libby, Ney, everyone from Alaksa, etc. - end every time the GOP closed ranks & defended them all, even in the face of undeniable evidence of douchebaggery. He figured he'd get the same support. But he forgot how vile the GOP base considers teh homosecks. there is literally no crime the GOP won't forgive - adultery, incompetence, war profiteering, even treason - but even a hint of teh ghey? DOOM. Craig's childlike stupidity almost evokes pity, but then I remember that, when he could have just kept a low profile on gay issues, he instead chose to be a loudmouthed leader against any sort of equality or acceptance. If Craig's not gay, then this is a delicious piece of irony - being hounded out by the same homophobia he's stoked for decades. But if he is, then there is little evil he doesn't deserve for shamelessly sacrificing the gay community for political power. No, jrc has it right.
