Shorter Larry Craig: “I pled guilty to procuring homosexual sex in an airport bathroom because the newspaper kept saying I was gay.”

Really Larry Craig?
Really?

Really?

Didja read the police report? After being read his Mirandas, Craig couldn’t recall specific events that lead to his arrest. Even tho, they allegedly happened 10 minutes prior.

Question — do ALL ‘pubs have that “Memento” disease?

  2. Are these mug shots Oliver?

If so the old, gay, closeted guy could give lessens in how to look good for the camera at the cop shop.

I hope some enterprising sleuth out there digs up his flight information! I’m from MN and airport personnel are commenting that it is a specific bathroom at MSP that is used for hook ups. In fact, it’s listed on hook up sites on the net.

If that bathroom isn’t near the gate he arrived at or the gate he departed at, that would suggest that he researched the bathroom and sought it out.

Apparently there a big story coming out that may or may not prove he’s gay. Some reporter from Rolling Stones has been working on it for months. It will be interesting to see if it really will be the final nail, or if Larry Craig tries to continue is political career.

Funny thing is, if the Republicans hadn’t spent so long demonizing gays, he could have come out and won re-election.

“[...] he could have come out and won re-election.”

Not in Idaho, as I understand it. Too conservative Republican.

  6. Enoch Root says:

Note to politicians: Don’t wear your US flag lapel pin to your booking. It’s disgraceful.

That’s the picture of a man who knows he’s fucked.

Um … maybe not. Does the name Jim McGreevey ring a bell?

Actually, his “I did nothing wrong and I’m not going to resign” sounds much more like a Democrat attitude. Again, does the name Gerry Studds ring a bell?

If lewd behavior is the only thing that Craig is guilty of, then he simply joins an ever-increasing number of Congressmen who can’t keep their pants zipped. The length of that list seems to clearly indicate that neither the government or the people of the US seem to see such personality traits as being disqualifiers for public service.

Personally I hope that Craig comes out of the closet, stays in the Senate, and runs for re-election, because by doing so he will win a big battle for gay rights. And what Democrat could oppose that?

  8. SpiderJ says:

Mike – How would Larry Craig’s re-election “win a big battle for gay rights”? Gays already have the right to be elected to office. And why would the re-election of a man who couldn’t even agree that it was unfair to be fired on the basis of your sexual orientation be a victory for gay rights?

I hope he comes out of the closet and goes on to live a happier and more truth-filled life away from the government body where he helped continue the identification of gays as second-class citizens.

I think it would be a big win for gay equality if some Republican were to do that, but not Craig because he’s already proved himself a hypocritical asshole.

Actually the same would be true of any Republican who has supported the homophobic republican platform, so it’s kind of a moot point.

Let me fix that for ya.

f lewd behavior is the only thing that Craig is guilty of, then he simply joins an ever-increasing number of RepublicanCongressmen who can’t keep their pants zipped.

    There you go.

  11. Duros62 says:

And once again, the issue is not whether he’s gay or not, but the hypocrisy in fighting against gay rights.

  12. Me: “[...] he could have come out and won re-election.”

David: “Not in Idaho, as I understand it. Too conservative Republican.”

I don’t know. Maybe if they hadn’t spent the past 8 years screaming that gays are evil, being gay wouldn’t be as big of a deal now.

Granted, the bathroom incident would have killed him anyway, cause that’s still sleazy and would be sleazy even if he was hetro. But being opening gay would mean he wouldn’t need to hang out in airport bathrooms.

  13. Duros62 says:

And then he and Barney Frank could go cruising together! All hail bi-partisanshp!
