Free Advice

If you’re going to lecture a national politician like Barack Obama over the meaning of a political theory like “federalism” you should probably at least spell his name right.

It’s B-a-r-a-c-k not B-a-r-r-a-c-k.

Weird. He did the same thing with Ray Nagin, spelling his last name “Naggin.”

That’s the least of the egregious stupidity of that blog.

Because Rob’s point hinges on his ability to spell Obama’s name correctly?

Because Rob doesn’t have a point. Gov Blanco requested emergency aid from the fed on the 26th, 2 days before the storm, and again, on the 29th, so the argument about federalism and state’s rights is crap from the word go. It also didn’t help that more than half of the state’s emergency response equipment and national guard support were in Iraq, necessitating federal support even if only for equipment. You’ll notice the whole federalism load of hogwash evaporates the second the fed needs to take state equipment and personnel for foreign occupations. Let’s also not overlook the fact that the Army Corps of Engineers has basically admitted it did a slipshod job on the levees, none of which was helped by Bush’s budget cuts. I’m not expressing any particular love for Blanco or Nagin. They both pretty much suck and I’d love to see a good challenger fronted to replace them, but trying to pretend that some sudden reverence for federalism absolves Bush’s crony ridden FEMA of responsibility for f*cking up the response is pure crap.

Hey, it’s not my fault he has a stupid name.
    ;-)

I actually do know how to spell it and I do usually catch myself. It’s just that now my mind sees his name one way and I can’t help myself.

I’d blame my editor, but I don’t have one.

The federalism argument evaporates a LOT with them. Like with the issues of national anti-drug laws, anti-abortion and gay marriage amendments. The arguments FOR federalism have about as much to do with states rights as their arguments against gays have to do with “protecting marriage.” It’s all a crock.

Yeah Rob, it’s Obama’s fault. He should’ve corrected his parents when they named him, even be it the day he was born. Since he passed up that chance, he therefore may have his name mangled and slurred in any way people want, especially his middle name too. Didn’t he know that in the future there would be a dictator who would share that name? He didn’t? Too bad!
