White House Prepping Pentagon Propaganda Operation To Bolster “Petraeus” Report

The spin never stops.

For the Defense Department, getting out Iraq information now will include a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week Iraq Communications Desk to pump out data from Baghdad and while serving more or less as a campaign war room.

According to a memo circulated Thursday and obtained by The Associated Press, Dorrance Smith, assistant defense secretary for public affairs, is seeking personnel for what he called the high-priority effort to distribute Defense Department information about Iraq.

The move, requested by Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England, comes as administration officials are gearing up for a rash of reports on the status of the war and recommendations from the military on troop levels going into next year. The crucial report will come from Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, and U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker.

  1. OxyCon says:

U.S. law forbids the Pentagon from conducting propaganda campaigns against American audiences.

  2. Duros62 says:

Perhaps someone should remind them of that, yes?

  3. We have an administration that has started a preemptive, unjustified war of aggression predicated upon lies against a former client state to the American Empire, purely on a blood for oil basis.

FREEDOM OF SPEACH FOR CORPORATIONS is the pathway to hell for the world. The fact that corporations like Blackwater can make monetary contributions to the people running for the very office that decide the issues of war and peace, the way that Blackwater and many other corporations who profit from war do, makes American a disease in the world.

We as a people need to get the profit out of war, or condemn ourselves in the eye’s of the world.

Propaganda aimed at Americans is another Nazi like way that this administration is going.

God help America and the world.

Will we see John Rendon on ‘Most Wanted’?

    “U.S. law forbids…”

LOL–where have you been since 2001?!?

  6. OxyCon, I have to agree with durablend on that “U.S. law” business. We are talking about the Bush/Cheney Junta here. Remember how they seized power? For them, there is no such thing as “U.S. law.”

What’s more, the corporate press/media will not report on the propaganda campaign. They will, instead, gleefully join in the propaganda campaign.

The Democrats will, of course, do nothing to disrupt or contradict the propaganda campaign. In fact, “some Democrats” will also gleefully join it.
