Ted Nugent Speaks For You
Tweet
Brandishing automatic weapons on stage, past-his-prime conservative rocker Ted Nugent calls for the death of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
One of their gods, one of their heroes.

Well, at least Ian seems a little embarrassed by it. That has to be a good sign, right?
The Repub media elites tried to destroy the Dixie Chicks because Natalie Maines said she was embaressed that Bush was from Texas.
You watch, these same Repub media elites will be giving Nugent book deals and air time as a gift for his hate speech.
See in the video how the right wing knuckle draggers in the audience loved Nugents hate speech?
Good old Nugent, another chickenhawk coward who would not serve in his country’s military.
Teddy boy is like a lot of Republicans. When he had a chance to show off his personal courage he opted out.
I heard a radio interview with the Great White Hunter Nugget in the 70′s while in the Marines. He had soiled himself for days then went to to report to the draft board.
Chicken hawks of the world, this Ted Nugent is your guy.
Isn’t that a felony? Should Ted Nugent be arrested for this?
If, say, Chuck D. of Public Enemy had said anything even remotely like this about Giuli’ Andrews or Mitt Romney, he’d have been in federal custody in a Long Island minute…
Let’s remember this post the next time Noam Chomsky/Michael Moore/Sean Penn/Cindy Sheehan says something retarded and Oliver obfuscates with “They never were representative of mainstream Democratics.”
Uh, genius? When Democrats do that, it’s in order to disavow what the nutjob says.
Republicans have, unsurprisingly, not done that with Nugent’s steaming pile.
Rob Port at Sayanythingblog opined:
Good enough for you?
BTW, I agree with Rob. Ted should shut and sing.
Err, shut UP and sing.
Rob Port at Sayanythingblog opined:
Personally, I don’t condone this sort of thing. If he were just cursing at them and such it’d be sort of funny…
============================
Yeah, calling someone a “piece of shit”; a women a “bitch” and another woman a “whore”, now that’s funny stuff!
Farris, I’m only doing what cons have done to Dems for 20+ years. Nobody in the real world has ever heard of Ward Churchill, but according to the right-wing noise machine, he’s slightly less influential on the left than Bill Clinton and Al Gore.
Nobody in the real world had ever had heard of Jeff Gannon or Armstrong Williams either. That doesn’t make their scandals any less significant.
They were minor figures to be sure, but both were connected – especially in Williams’ case – to the Bush administration.
Ted Nugent sugar coats everything. I wish he’d said what he thought.
and Gannon/Guckert somehow had credentials to appear at Prez press conferences and spend the night at the White House. I suppose Ward Churchill did too.
And Dixie Chicks???
Rob Port’s an idiot.
Look, BB, the only proper response to Nugent is a clear and unequivocal repudiation–not some “well, it’s kind of funny except for the parts about sucking on firearms.’
“Nobody in the real world had ever had heard of Jeff Gannon or Armstrong Williams either.”
Are you fucking kidding me?
Armstrong Williams was being paid by the White House and Jeff Gannon was getting into White House press briefings under an alias. They had direct connections to the White House.
If you can’t see the difference, you are too fucking stupid to be here.
So, can we like stop buying his records??? Oh, wait, already done that.
Can we throw the ones we still have at him in concert?? Oh, wait, that would entail going to his shows, so no.
Any ideas???
If you can’t see the difference, you are too fucking stupid to be here.
Well, the problem is that SaveFarris is too stupid to be anywhere else, either.
“Well, the problem is that SaveFarris is too stupid to be anywhere else, either.”
at least until Little Green Footballs opens registration again.
As long as there are County Fairs and car dealerships opening, Ted will continue to have a job.
“Armstrong Williams was being paid by the White House and Jeff Gannon was getting into White House press briefings under an alias. They had direct connections to the White House.
If you can’t see the difference, you are too fucking stupid to be here.”
Farris was talking about how well known those two are. Even Oliver admitted they were ‘minor’ figures.
And if you can’t see the difference…
“Rob Port’s an idiot.”
I’m sure he feels the same about you, Jade. In fact, I think you’re an idiot, too.
But that’s all irrelevant.
Cazart said nobody on the right repudiated what Ted said and I provided an example to prove he did.
PS, how’s that complaint against Rob coming along? Pretty far, I’d hope, since you originally made the empty threat two years ago.
Hey, gravy, I see ferris isn’t the only child left behind. Farris was comparing how well known Guckert and Williams were to Ward Churchill. CSS rightly pointed out that Williams and Guckert had direct connections to the White House, while Churchill was a professor who had no affiliation (and couldn’t be shown to have even voted for) Democrats.
As far as your comment about Jadegold, I’m sure Jadegold’s happy to be called an idiot by the likes of you. And Rob Port is an idiot.
You’ve gotta see the shameless Sean Hannity defending this SOB on H&C (video via newshounds)
He says hardly a word about Nugent, just instantly starts off with the “other people say bad things” dodge. “Obama said something I am deliberately misquoting to make him look bad, so shouldn’t we condemn that first?” What a hypocritical vile bag of shit Sean is.

When you losers amass anything near the contributions Ted has made, THEN you can diss him
No. Timmy, I can diss him all I like.
Most of these “contributions” are bogus–part of the EIB Network?
The idiot is a racist and insane. Plus, speaking as a rock fan–his music is for prepubescent boys who like to play air guitar.
“When you losers amass anything near the contributions Ted has made, THEN you can diss him:”
How many felonies do I have to commit before I can ‘diss’ him?
Plus, speaking as a rock fan
Lawrence Welk doesn’t qualify….
Jay, Jay…are you seriously going to criticize my rock tastes after you and Ricky Elvis West acted like 10-year old girls at a Jonas Bros. concert over Bon Jovi?
What was it you said? Something like, “Bon Jovi Roxxxx?”
Sure Tim, Ted is a hero, in his and apparently your minds.
Ted is a big pussy, I’ll bet you are too.
“As busy as he is, he’s doing what he loves. Ted said it best, “I really have the American dream licked.”
And there are suckers born every second…
Jay, Jay…are you seriously going to criticize my rock tastes after you and Ricky Elvis West acted like 10-year old girls at a Jonas Bros. concert over Bon Jovi?
The fact that I didn’t even know who the Jonas Bros were (I had to look it up) says it all.
Aside from that, your ignorance of rock music is on full display when you merely dismiss Nugent’s music “for prepubescent boys who like to play air guitar.” Only a person who doesn’t know shit about rock music (ding!) would say something so dumb. Nugent is considered amongst music fans, his peers and critics to be one of top rock guitarists of his era. In addition, you’ll be hard pressed to find a person that actually plays guitar that doesn’t think his solo on ‘Stranglehold’ is one of the best ever.
I really cannot stand when morons say something an artist does sucks because they don’t like their politics.
“Nugent is considered amongst music fans, his peers and critics to be one of top rock guitarists of his era.”
And what era is that? Who would you consider his contemporaries?
I’d like to hear more about your theories on rock.
And what era is that?
If you don’t know, why bother?
Nugent is considered amongst music fans, his peers and critics to be one of top rock guitarists of his era.
I’d like to know what era that was as well. In reality, Nugent has never been considered even an average guitarist; he is a showman (Tarzan-style loincloth, adolescent rants)–all style, no substance.
In fact, Nugent is regarded as something of a joke among guitarists. If you really hate your ears, listen to “Wango Tango” or “Venom Soup” sometime. At least with awful hairbands like Poison (CC DeVille), the band wasn’t taking itself seriously.
It should also be noted Nugent has played with some fairly talented musicians and backing bands but they all seemed to ditch him at the first opportunity.
Kirk Hammett
Dave Mustaine
Kerry King/Jeff Hanneman
Slash/Izzy Stradlin’
Y. Malmstein
Tony Iommi
Alex Lifeson
Wayne Kramer/Fred “Sonic” Smith
John Kay
Richie Blackmore
And our hometown favorite, Frank Zappa
etc. etc. etc.
Jaywalker, I’ll give you ONE FRIGGING GUESS what all the above have in common. And anyone else can jump in too…
People that are smarter than Jay and better guitarists than Ted Nugent?
Me: “And what era is that?”
Jay: “If you don’t know, why bother?”
Ohhh, nice dodge.
Seriously, what era was Ted Nugent considered an elite guitarist? He had a couple of hits in the late 70s, but nothing that would put him on top.
I need you to answer my questions to figure out if you are a fanboy, merely tweaking the facts, or completely nuts.
Enlightened Liberal | Aug 26, 2007 12:15:25 PM
Kick out the JAMS, mofo!!
And each was involved in at least one album that will be far, FAR better regarded than anything the Stooge – er, Nuge ever did. That includes the MC5 (with Kramer & Smith) whose debut LP was loaded with LEFTIST rhetoric and STILL kicked ass. (Fred Smith also had the good taste to marry Patti Smith.)
Metallica still sells out stadiums, despite their very long slump in the studio. Rush remains one of the greatest acts ever, along with Sabbath whenever they get together.
Finally, during Gulf War I, whose music did our troops play to piss off Saddam’s guys? Was it the Stooge? Hell no…they chose Hanneman & King’s Slayer – whose “Angel of Death” can easily be re-written to describe the current POTUS.
As the Stooge would say, “Suck on it!”
In reality, Nugent has never been considered even an average guitarist;
Says who? Do you actually know any musicians?
In fact, Nugent is regarded as something of a joke among guitarists.
Name them. Give me the name of one well known rock guitarist that says Ted Nugent is a ‘joke.’
Seriously, what era was Ted Nugent considered an elite guitarist? He had a couple of hits in the late 70s, but nothing that would put him on top.
He had more than just a “few hits” CS. He sold a lot of albums during that time. Talk to any guitarist that has heard ‘Double Live Gonzo’ and ask them if they think he’s just some second rate hack as Jadegold is attempting to assert.
I need you to answer my questions to figure out if you are a fanboy, merely tweaking the facts, or completely nuts.
Actually, I am not a huge fan of Nugent. Nevertheless, I still appreciate his prowess as a guitarist and won’t offer up bullshit views of his playing like Jadegold does based upon politics.
And to Randy: Anybody that puts together a list like that and includes Slash doesn’t deserve to be taken seriously. The measure of greatness in a guitarist is not just how they perform in studio, but how they perform live and having seen Slash live on several occasions, I can say without hesitation that he’s very overrated.
Want to see a joke? Go watch the ‘tribute’ to Jimi Hendrix on Youtube with Slash playing guitar on ‘Hey Joe.’ Jimi would have been turning over in his grave listening to that crap.
Me: “Seriously, what era was Ted Nugent considered an elite guitarist? He had a couple of hits in the late 70s, but nothing that would put him on top.”
Jay: “He had more than just a “few hits” CS.”
Prove it. How many went gold. How many went platinum?
Nugent is a great guitarist?
Jay, please tell me you’re just playing this one for laughs. I’ve seen you take some tough positions to defend over the years. This one beats ‘em all.
CS, you’re free to go right here and do a search on Nugent to see how many of his albums went gold, platinum and multi-platinum.
Isn’t it simply amazing that an artist can have a multiple-platinum album originally released thirty years ago?
I also find it very hard to believe that the brilliant Mr. Nugent’s last big winner for new material “Free for All” was only fifteen years ago. (It seemed like just yesterday.)
Clearly he needs to forget all the OLN Awards, NRA kudos, and associated honors to get back to what he did best in the late seventies: cranking out album after album of earth-shaking guitar solos so amazing, they’ll charm the panties off any trailer trash unfortunate enough to hear them.
Quaker, I said Nugent was one of the top guitarists of his era and contrary to the rantings of Jadegold, he’s recognized as one of the better rock guitarists amongst critics and his peers.
What defines great Quaker? It’s subjective. I think John Bonham was a great drummer. Buddy Rich though, didn’t think much of Bonham. Somebody asked him about Bonham and he sat down and played some of ‘Moby Dick’ with almost no effort and said, “Anybody can do that.”
There are people that will get hives if you dare to suggest that Keith Richards is not one of the greatest guitarists ever. Me? I think the guy is way overrated and there’s hardly anybody that can point to specific songs and say, “Listen to this song and that song” and you’ll see what I am talking about.
Meanwhile, all I have to do is lend somebody a copy of ‘Live At The El Mocambo’ with Stevie Ray Vaughan where they can witness greatness the entire time.
Ted Nugent is not really my cup of tea. I don’t own a single Nugent album. But for people to dismiss him so haughtily as just an average guitarist is ignorant.
The truth is in the middle.
Politics aside, back in the day, Ted Nugent was a bad-ass. He “stood up” to crummy disco music and was a real rock n roller. He was quite influential on the generation that followed him.
The key here is “back in the day”. Nugent hasn’t done anything musically significant in many, many years. As a result, he now seems to be all about right-wing “shtick” (an act)…guns, hating libruls, etc. His music & playing no longer get him in the spotlight, so he does the phony outrage thing.
And I say phony because as someone pointed out, if he were really serious, he could actually follow through on his threats to run for office in Michigan. I would have more respect for him if he did; he’d at least be showing the courage of his convictions if he feels that strongly about the right to bear arms.
But instead, he takes the easy way out, which is to make attention-grabbing headlines during the twilight of his career, and ride the publicity for all it’s worth. Let’s face it, you heard about this concert because of what he said, not how well he played, or a new album, etc.
Yes, Jay, I know quite a few musicians–a few who are quite a bit more well-known than Nugent. None of them believe Nugent is worth squat.
Back in the 80s, Nugent used to have this routine where he’d come on stage during an opening act’s set. He’d challenge that band’s lead guitar to a duel. The idea was that Nugent and the lead guitar would perform dueling riffs, with the culmination being the opening act genuflecting to Nugent’s mastery. Well, that routine didn’t last too long since many of the opening acts lead guitarists started kicking Nugent’s butt.
He “stood up” to crummy disco music and was a real rock n roller. He was quite influential on the generation that followed him.
Stood up to disco? You’re kidding, right? Disco died all by itself, no help needed.
There are people that will get hives if you dare to suggest that Keith Richards is not one of the greatest guitarists ever.
Jeebus, you know nothing about music. WRT Richards, he isn’t considered a great guitarist but he is generally accepted as having one of the greatest right hands in the business.
I know quite a few musicians–a few who are quite a bit more well-known than Nugent. None of them believe Nugent is worth squat.
Please. Your word is worth a squirt of piss around here. I said to NAME THEM. Dipping into your own private ‘Fantasy Island’ means very little. Your penchant for being full of shit is well known across the blogosphere. So please enlighten us. Which of your famous guitarist friends are on record as saying that about Nugent? Or should we just get Mr. Rourke and Tattoo out here?

Goes to show how little you know about Nugent. His “guitar duels” were held in the early 70′s when he was ‘Ted Nugent and The Amboy Dukes’ and was still up and coming. He didn’t engage in the practice in the 80′s.
Jeebus, you know nothing about music.
I’ve forgotten more about music than you know. You proclaim to be an expert on almost everything, but then when you’re ignorance is revealed, you slink away.
WRT Richards, he isn’t considered a great guitarist but he is generally accepted as having one of the greatest right hands in the business.
What in the world are you talking about? When discussing the skill of a guitarist’s ‘right hand’ technique, they are talking about his ability to pick. Richards is largely a rhythm guitarist so he largely plays chords.
Cripes.
“CS, you’re free to go right here and do a search on Nugent to see how many of his albums went gold, platinum and multi-platinum.”
Fine, I’ll do your research for you. He has two gold albums according to that site. His first, and a compilation release. So really one one hit album.
Wow. That’s so fucking impressive.
“WRT Richards, he isn’t considered a great guitarist but he is generally accepted as having one of the greatest right hands in the business.”
But that has nothing to do with him playing guitars.
(Joke.)
Fine, I’ll do your research for you. He has two gold albums according to that site. His first, and a compilation release. So really one one hit album.
Wow. That’s so fucking impressive.
Good grief. I guess I have to do everything. From the RIAA: The following albums of his have been certified platinum:
Ted Nugent
Free For All
Cat Scratch Fever
Double Live Gonzo
Weekend Warriors
Jay: You honestly know nothing about music; that was evident in your love for Bon Jovi.
When you ask famous musicians who the best guitarist they ever heard was–usually, they’ll give the name of some obscure guitarist hardly anyone has heard of or some session guitarist. If you press them for a more famous name, they’ll say someone like Joe Satriani or Al DiMeola or John McLaughlin.
WRT Richards, he is regarded uin the same light as a Jimmy Page–someone who isn’t necessarily technically gifted but has created their own distinct style.
Folks like Nugent don’t even make the cut; they’re laughed at–like CC DeVille or the boys from KISS. Nugent as a guitarist is way below average.
“Good grief. I guess I have to do everything.”
Oops. Typed his name into title, not artist. This is what you get for not doing your own research.
Still, that’s four albums in four years, (not counting the compilation). Hardly impressive consider people who are elite guitar players can produce hits for decades.
I’ve seen the guy play live, he’s more energy than skill. (And more mouth than those two combined.)
Jay: You honestly know nothing about music; that was evident in your love for Bon Jovi.
Once again, I have forgotten more about music than you’ll ever know. Your attempt to prove otherwise is lame even with your wisecracks about Bon Jovi.
When you ask famous musicians who the best guitarist they ever heard was–usually, they’ll give the name of some obscure guitarist hardly anyone has heard of or some session guitarist.
No shit. But what does this have to do with what I asked you?
I ask again: Of all these famous guitarists you supposedly know, NAME ONE that has said they didn’t think Nugent was worth squat.
Name one or shut the fuck up.
Folks like Nugent don’t even make the cut; they’re laughed at–like CC DeVille or the boys from KISS. Nugent as a guitarist is way below average.
Again, that’s your opinion and like assholes, everybody has one.
Still, that’s four albums in four years, (not counting the compilation). Hardly impressive consider people who are elite guitar players can produce hits for decades.
Remember what I said. I said he was considered one of the top rock guitarists of his era – which was that period between 1975-1980. I wouldn’t place him amongst the best of all time.
And hits don’t necessarily tell the whole story. If you look at Stevie Ray Vaughan for instance, he didn’t have any hits and his solo records weren’t certified platinum until after his death in 1989. Eric Johnson’s ‘Ah Via Musicom’ wasn’t certified platinum until thirteen years after it was released.
“Remember what I said. I said he was considered one of the top rock guitarists of his era – which was that period between 1975-1980. I wouldn’t place him amongst the best of all time.”
Two points:
1.) 1975-1980 is hardly an era.
2.) He still wasn’t the best of that time frame.
“And hits don’t necessarily tell the whole story. If you look at Stevie Ray Vaughan for instance, he didn’t have any hits and his solo records weren’t certified platinum until after his death in 1989. Eric Johnson’s ‘Ah Via Musicom’ wasn’t certified platinum until thirteen years after it was released.”
And both of those men are talented. (I own the formers box set and the latter album.)
Ted Nugent plays area rock, which is certainly less talent driven than most genres.
I think we’re missing the point. Nugent may be a great guitarist. It doesn’t matter. He threatened the life of two individuals, and thus belongs in prison. His riches won’t save him.
Same thing with O.J. Simpson. Great football player. Doesn’t excuse what he did, though. (ok, he still got away anyway, and Nugent unfortunately probably will too).
1.) 1975-1980 is hardly an era.
Sure it is. It’s a period of time.
2.) He still wasn’t the best of that time frame.
I never said he was the best. You need to read more closely. I said he was one of the top rock guitarists of his era.
My entire point here was to refute Jadegold’s incorrect assertion that Nugent is a “below average guitarist”, comparing him to hacks like CC Deville.
And both of those men are talented.
I agree. I just don’t think album sales are the be all end all of what constitutes good musicianship. Britney Spears sold millions of records and Jadegold can probably sing better than her. Yet, I doubt you’d find the average person has heard of Joe Bonamassa, but he’s one of the best guitarists around today.
Point: anyone who claims “I’ve forgotten more about [something] than you’ll ever know” is invariably full of shit.
“1.) 1975-1980 is hardly an era.”
“Sure it is. It’s a period of time.”
It takes more to be an era than to be a period of time.
“2.) He still wasn’t the best of that time frame.”
“I never said he was the best. You need to read more closely. I said he was one of the top rock guitarists of his era.”
And he’s not. He plays arena rock, which is not a high skill genre of music. In fact, it is one of the lowest.
Allright, allright, Jay.
Nugent freakin’ rocks, man. [makes devil sign with a raised hand]
Now what about his “Hillary should ride one of these into the sunset” rant?
