Hillary’s “Negatives”

I think a lot of my fellow liberals are silly to be getting all worked up about Karl Rove’s latest fallacy (“From The Team Who Brought You The Democratic Majority”) about Sen. Clinton’s ratings in the polls, but here’s some analysis from Gallup via the Clinton folks.

Rove is correct in noting that Clinton’s unfavorable ratings are high, and unusually so for a candidate this far ahead of the election. However, a review of historical Gallup data suggests that contrary to Rove’s assertions, her current image ratings do not necessarily spell defeat. Clinton’s current unfavorable ratings are in reality not much different from what other past candidates have had in the year they won the election. Second, her image has been more negative than positive several other times during the past 15 years, but often has recovered and could do so again. Last, despite Clinton’s high unfavorables, she remains competitive with the Republican candidates in Gallup’s presidential test elections.

When it comes to unfavorable ratings, it’s good to remember what one hiker said to the other when they were faced down by a bear:

“I don’t have to outrun the bear. I just have to outrun you.”

If Hillary has high negatives, she can still win if her opponent has even higher negatives!

Don’ know why that’s so tough for the millionaire’s club to figure out.

I have learned to calmly accept the fact that every day, at least one fact that I thought I “knew” based on info from the MSM is incorrect. For example:
_People who were actually war supporters were called war “critics” who now see progress in Iraq
_Kerry’s statement about being bogged down in Iraq if you are not educated, was hyped as an attack on the troops
_Michelle Obama’s comment about being able to take care of your house, taken out of context by MSM and Drudge and called an OBVIOUS swipe at Hillary
    _etc etc etc

My biggest problem, are facts presented one like the Rove comment, which I heard. In spite of my dislike for the man, the statement sounded reasonable. I even felt that I had heard similar things from other political analysts. I did not do personal reaserarch on the topic. But, the “factoid” that I accepted was incorrect. Because MSM have become stenograpers, I have to turn my MSM BS-O-METER up another notch
Sad commentary on the news media.

  3. Almost all of the people who hate Hillary are Republicans who would never vote for a Democrat anyway. On the other hand, 25% of the people who say they would never vote for Romney are Republicans. That kills any chances he has.

And really bad stenographers at that.
