Fred Thompson Would Ban Abortion

Right from his lips. When will cons realize that this is not a mainstream position? He also promises to push a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, which is the exact same line of crap Bush lied to the religious far right about in 2004 and proceeded to laugh at them after election day and did diddly to advance the promise. Will they fall for it again? Probably.

UPDATE: Hollywood actor Fred Thompson is claiming he didn’t say what he said in the video above and that he’s against a constitutional amendment against gay marriage. Well, either he’s for it like he said, flip flopping on the issue in Romney-quick fashion, or is too tongue-tied to answer a pretty easy question. You choose.

    You choose.

    Why? Can’t it be both?

  2. Benny says:

Freddy showed up to the Iowa Fair in $400 shoes–Gucci’s, and rode around in a golf cart, when the other candidates walked.

Having said that, Freddy doesn’t seem too clear on what he proposes to do that goes against the grain of most of the American people.

    Fries or cole slaw?

    Yes.

I say go for it, Fred. Run with that. Hell, maybe in your constitutional amendment banning gays from being as miserable as the rest of us, er, I mean married, you can add that they and all other sexual deviants (pedophiles, bestiality lovers, Republicans) have to identify themselves somehow. Like maybe with a, oh i dunno, an armband of some sort.

Actually, he didn’t say he would ban abortion. He said he would overturn Roe vs. Wade as bad law and bad medicine, based on his working theory of Federalism. However, he has stated repeated that any laws regarding abortion lay within the purview of the state governments, and he would not push any laws to overthrow that right.

I suggest you be careful with your statements.

Now, I know it’s been awhile since we’ve had a three-branch system of government in this country, but if I’m not mistaken Fred Thompson can’t simply “overturn” Roe V. Wade. Besides the fact that there’s a much longer process to do so, it’s not within his powers to overturn laws willy-nilly.

Oh, Spider, that’s SO pre-9/11 thinking.
