Mitt Romney: $885 A Vote

Oh man. Mitt Romney spent something like $4 million dollars in order to buy the Iowa straw poll, and what he has to show for it is 4,516 votes and 31%. Sheesh. By comparison, Mike Huckabee came in second with 2,587 votes and while I don’t know how much he spent, by all accounts it’s way way less than Romney’s millions.

ALSO: Ron Paul got less votes than Tom Tancredo. Apparently the 9/11 truthers aren’t exactly big time voters.

ALSO ALSO: Republicans had problems with voting machines. Imagine.

  1. This vote sucked. Not only did Romney not win by a big enough margin to boost his national poll numbers, (at least that’s my analysis of the situation), Ron Paul got enough to give his delusional supporters a boost. 9.1% is better than he’s done in any national poll, after all.

The only good news is Fred Thompson beat Giuliani, which should boost his campaign if / when he finally officially announces.

Okay, there’s a second piece of good news, there were less than half as many voters as they were expecting. But even this could be explained by the absence of the top three polling Republicans and not a general sense of dissatisfaction in the choices.

The big winner in this is Huckabee. I’m sure I’ve posted this before — watch out for him. He’s a no-name, but he’s a very smart campaigner.

Nevermind the 5 boys… Has ANYONE in the Romney family EVER served in the United States Military?

Sounds like quite a combination – “Howdy Doody” Romney and “Huckleberry” Huckabee. What a pair of losers!
This election is the democrat’s to lose. But don’t put it past them, not after 2004!

I hope Ron Paul vies for the Libertarian nomination after he loses so he can pull a Nader.
