Maryland Republican Party Is Broke

Last year they had the governor’s mansion. This year, they don’t even have enough for a candy bar. Bwahahaha.

The Maryland Republican Party, reeling from the loss of the governor’s mansion, is nearly broke, according to a copy of its financial statement obtained by The Sun.

The state GOP treasurer’s report from July 31 shows the party had $4,615 in cash and $50,500 in debt. Because of lackluster fundraising, the party operated at a $103,536 deficit in the first six months of the year.

A report from the party’s accountants shows that funding from major donors has dried up, and that the party’s major annual fundraising event, the Red, White and Blue Dinner, netted $15,572, less than 10 percent of the amount the party had been counting on.

Once again, Republicans demonstrate their lack of skill at managing money. 2002 was the high water mark for the Republican party in Maryland, it’s all downhill from here. What’s even better, the far-right and slightly less right wings of the party are fussing with each other, while the Maryland Democrats actually govern the state.

Anyone here think that they will try to coax Michelle Malkin to run for political office?

Sadly there is the stupid party and the evil party. When people get tired of the Democrats they will go back to stupid.

I’m from California & if it were not for illegal immigrants there would hardly be anybody left. Where are they all going? Nevada… Which goes to show you if you leave enough Democrats in charge for long enough a state that was improved by nuclear testing starts to look good.

I’m from California and I hire American citizens. If every employer was like me, there wouldn’t be any illegal immigration.

Take your anger out on those who save money by hiring cheap labor (cough*no benefits*cough), and the American citizens who are too proud to push a wheelbarrow or dig a ditch. I did that stuff when I was broke, 30 some odd years ago, and it didn’t kill me.

No problem Nick, I guess people like you that can’t cut it in California should move somewhere else. It’s positively Darwinian.

How did a post about the Republican Party of Maryland and its financial woes bring up comments about California and illegal immigration?

“Sadly there is the stupid party and the evil party. When people get tired of the Democrats they will go back to stupid.”

So the party that tortures people is merely stupid and not evil. Strange definitions there.

Hey torture is ineffective, but at least they are doing it to protect life.

Democrats are just for sticking scissors into the heads of babies and socializing medicine so everybody else to fork out the money to pay for the “procedure”.

Hey thanks Nick, that reminds me I’ve got to go stick scissors in the heads of 3 babies today, like all liberals this is my daily quota. I hope there will be enough time left to smuggle in some illegal aliens before dinner! After dinner my liberal friends and I are going to force conservative Christian men to enter gay marriages and spike the tires of SUV’s so that they can’t spew greenhouse gases.

Being a liberal is hard work.

    Just 3?
Slacker. The rest of us have to increase our babykilling to make up for your sloth-like behavior.

Well, Nick redirected this thread pretty successfully.

And no one even responded to my question about whether the Maryland state Republican party might try to get Michelle Malkin to run for office. She suffers from tremendous vanity and if she felt she had a chance I could picture her trying to run.

She would probably lose though, as the Republicans have often tried to run minority candidates in Maryland, such as Alan Keyes and Linda Chavez, all without success.

Sorry, Nick, I live here in California as well, and I’ve not noticed any fleeing to Nevada lately.

A lot of folks are fleeing to the San Joaquin Valley from other parts of California and the country, so our illegal alien problem must be much better than where they’re fleeing from.

Also, note that the CA Republican party is in debt to the tune of millions of dollars.

SACRAMENTO — The GOP lawmakers whose complaints of fiscal mismanagement at the Capitol are moving them to block passage of a state budget may not want to look to their own party for inspiration in balancing the books.

The California Republican Party is swimming in red ink.

State campaign finance reports that were due by midnight Tuesday will show that the party has millions of dollars more in debt than money in the bank, according to party officials.

The party’s dire financial situation has alarmed Republican activists, who worry that it will not have the resources needed to run an effective get-out-the-vote campaign in key congressional and legislative districts during the upcoming election.

The state party has only $1.1 million cash on hand, money it needs to hold onto to pay day-to-day expenses such as salaries.

Meanwhile, it is struggling to come up with a plan to pay off $4.2 million in debt.

“I’m from California & if it were not for illegal immigrants there would hardly be anybody left..”

A member of the self-described stupids should probably try really extra hard to form a coherent thought before posting among the non-stupids.

I’m from California as well, which has a population of roughly 37 million. The population of illegal immigrants in the ENTIRE country is 12 million. The nearest estimate I could find was illegal immigration accounting for approx 7% of California’s total population.

So take them away and you’ve still got a pretty robust and (unfortunately for Republicans..er…the Stupids) diverse community.

But by all means, move to Nevada.

“She would probably lose though, as the Republicans have often tried to run minority candidates in Maryland, such as Alan Keyes and Linda Chavez, all without success.”

In those cases, “Batshiat crazy” trumps their minority status by 10 fold.

  15. Gravatar Icon 15 Tommykey

Well, Malkin would certainly be a continuation of that pattern Megamoze!

I assumed that the Michelle Malkin question was a joke. The Maryland GOP had their best shot with Ehrlich, followed by Steele. It was a once in a bajillion years deal, not to be repeated for a very long time, and they were both relatively moderate Repubs, not insane crazy reich wingers like Malkin.

  17. Gravatar Icon 17 Tommykey

Oliver, I raised the question for two reasons:

    1) They did run batshit crazy Alan Keyes in the past.

    2) Malkin has a rabid fan base that would contribute to her campaign.

I got 7 today. I can sell you some baby-head offset credits if you want.

How many grade-school kids did you turn gay today? maybe we could work out a trade.

I peed on a crucifix today.
    I did my part.
