Even the Terry Schaivos of the world know that the Iraq War is going on and that soldiers are dying. It has been covered, quite extensively, just about every day for the last 4 years. In contrast, this was apparently the first "in-depth" interview Tony Snow has given about his bout with cancer. Is it more important than the war? Absolutely not! But in the context of whether it's "news" in the sense of being a new development that hasn't been reported yet, it probably is.
