Part Of The Reason I Live Where I Live

This past weekend an old high school friend of mine was visiting from out of town, and he’d never been to Washington, D.C. before so I gave him a quick tour of some of the highlights.

That shuttle is the Enterprise. How cool is that?

I was in DC at the end of July, and stood where you stood at the Lincoln Memorial. While I stood on those steps, a young, well-dressed black man stood up as well and proceeded to recite the second half of King’s address (starting with his call to “Go back to Mississippi, go back to Alabama…”) through to its climactic finish.

I’m happy to have heard the speech recited, but I was especially thrilled to hear it recited while standing where I was.

Cool pics. I am taking my kids to DC next spring. My son will be 11 and my daughter 10, so I think it will be a good time for them to go as they will enjoy seeing a lot of that.

I keep hoping to have a long layover at Dulles so I can sneak over to that U-H Center. Looks awesome.

One of the funny jokes I heard recently from Dennis Miller is that he was surprised there was stuff inside the Air & Space Museum.

That WW2 memorial looks like Mussolini won.

By god, Oliver, I wish you really *were* measuring for drapes!
