Ben Smith Of The Politico Attacks Obama For Being Soft On Terror, But He’s Tougher Than Bush
Tweet
Trolling for hits from Drudge, as The Politico and its writers usually do. Ben Smith criticizes Barack Obama for being soft on terror via this observation:
One note: The phrase “war on terror” appears nowhere in the speech.
But of course, Obama clearly says this:
Just because the President misrepresents our enemies does not mean we do not have them. The terrorists are at war with us. The threat is from violent extremists who are a small minority of the world’s 1.3 billion Muslims, but the threat is real. They distort Islam. They kill man, woman and child; Christian and Hindu, Jew and Muslim. They seek to create a repressive caliphate. To defeat this enemy, we must understand who we are fighting against, and what we are fighting for.
But “Barack Obama Threatens To Kill The Terrorists That George Bush Won’t” would be a headline causing physical pain over at the Politico.
Don’t trust the mainstream media.

I would be remiss if I didn’t point out this is the first time a Liberal has supported any sort of war effort in 73 years. So at least Obama has that going for him…
Plenty of liberals supported plenty of wars in the last 73 years. It’s the major issue over which liberalism has internal divisions. Or is this a ‘no true Scotsman’ sort of thing? I suspect it’s a result of years of being spoonfed history by Rush Limbaugh.
Yes, those of us who supported Afghanistan, Yugoslavia, Kosovo are just invisible. The difference is, we do it when it makes sense.
Oliver, can we count on you to quickly enlist so we can get over to Pakistan and kick some ass…or are you just another chickehawk?
SaveFarris, you are either stupid or a liar. Actually, you’re probably both.

Funny, but hasn’t the Bush Administration been saying the same thing for the last six years? Obama probably didn’t notice because it was too long to fit on a bumpersticker.
“Funny, but hasn’t the Bush Administration been saying the same thing for the last six years? ”
Yes. And the Bush administration let bin Laden escape and he has been in Pakistan ever since.
Yeah, that’s some awesome insight from Drudge Lite. The substance of Obama’s speech means naught if he doesn’t include a specific catch phrase.
It’s kind of the opposite of the faux-shocked Wingnuts after the third Presidential Debate in 2004. “Aaauuggghhh! Kerry said ‘lesbian’! How uncivil!”
“Funny, but hasn’t the Bush Administration been saying the same thing for the last six years?”
And that’s all they’ve been doing, saying stuff.
Also, this administration has done its best to equal Muslims with terrorists, cause that racism plays to its base.
Farris – FDR wasn’t a liberal? Are you trying to say that a conservative came up with the New Deal?
Johnson wasn’t a liberal? Even for as big a boondoggle as Vietnam was, you want to tell me that a conservative signed the Civil Rights bill?
Usually your falsehoods aren’t this transparent. Try again.
“To defeat this enemy, we must understand who we are fighting against, and what we are fighting for.”
Bush and his conservative brigade have barely made any efforts toward “understanding” who we are fighting against, which might be why they continue to fight such a powerful nation as us to an ongoing stalemate.
