Takoma Park, Liberalism Central
Tweet
The city I live in, Takoma Park, passed a resolution to impeach Bush and Cheney. This will have zero effect, even in Takoma Park, except to show the world how liberal we are. Yay, I guess.

I think the point is that people are TALKING about it. More than half the country now favors impeachment of Cheney, and if the story keeps gaining momentum, the major media can only keep ignoring it for so long. And once they start talking about it like it’s a legitimate possibility, suddenly it IS.
That’s the theory, at least.
If you don’t speak, no one hears you. Yay your town!
Telluride, CO will join you soon.
The other point is that it’s a message to Chris Van Hollen, our representative and head of the DCCC. As I said in public comments before the vote, Chris is a great representative. I think he needs to hear from us about this — the people who vote for him, the people who give him money, and the people who share microphones with him. Mayor Kathy Porter was on Tucker Carlson’s show defending the vote, and I think she cleaned his clock. Impeachment is constitutional, not partisan; saying we want it isn’t grandstanding, it’s our First Amendment right to petition Congress.
Hi Oliver! Chris Van Hollen is a good guy, and we are going to talk with him very soon. Want to come?
For readers who might be shy about calling a Congresman, all you have to do is call up, and a nice person will answer, and you can just leave a message like, “Hi, I’m one Mr. Van Hollen’s constituents, and I’d like him to cosponsor Dennis Kucinich’s bill to impeach the Vice President, H Res. 333″ He’s at 202 225-2361. It’s really easy and painless.
I would not have stood outside at the Farmers’ Market in TK PK in the heat with sweat pouring down my face for weeks getting petitions signed and yard signs displayed if I was just trying to be PC and make myself feel good. Impeachment starts in the House of Representatives, and that is the very next place we are going to go with it. I hope that Rep. Van Hollen will come along with us. I think future historians will look back on this period as a turning point for America. This is a time in which we have an important choice to make regarding how much of our Constitutional freedoms we are actually going to claim. The thing I am learning is that citizenship is a lot of work! We (myself included) have been lazy. We have not been paying attention. It’s a little late, but finally many of us have started to wake up and get informed. THANK GOD FOR THE INTERNET!!! Everyone take a moment to look at the Constitution. Read the Preamble. Check out Articles I and II, where the roles of Congress and the President are set forth. Skip ahead to the Bill of Rights. It’s all online.
Anyway, some members of Takoma Park IBC (IBC – Impeach Bush & Cheney) have been invited to come speak on WOL’s “Talking Feather” program this Sunday at 11am, 1450 AM Tune in.
Thanks Olliver

LOL. What a waste of time. Impeach the city council for wasting everybody’s time and $$.
