Michael Vick Indicted

What a moron.
Michael Vick has been indicted by a federal grand jury in connection with the dogfighting probe of his house in Virginia.
The Falcons quarterback was indicted for conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and to sponsor a dog in animal fighting venture in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District in Richmond, Va.

Doesn’t speak well of Portis and Samuels.
Anyway, it’s time the NFL (and other pro sports) start cracking down on the behavior of its players. And the media deserves a bit of criticism as well as this story probably wasn’t a big secret.
I wonder what the league will do about this.
Vick is a marquee player–a QB, has a huge salary, name recognition, puts asses in seats, and so forth. This isn’t some new DB or DE.
I wonder if
a) this will even go to trial, and
b) if it does, and the jury comes back with a guilty verdict, will the NFL treat Vick like Pac-Man Jones or Tank Johnson?
If there is a conviction, I hope they drop the hammer. If Vick’s guilty of this sick shit, I hope he gets banned for life.
I think that the nfl is doing a good thing cracking down on off the field incidents by players. They should be held responsible for their actions.
I wonder which of the four major team sports has the worst off-field problems?
The NFL can ban Michael Vick for life now if they want to. They don’t have to wait for a guilty verdict in order to do so (ala Pacman Jones).
Of course, a lifetime ban doesn’t necessarily mean ‘lifetime’ as Vick could apply for reinstatement.
We’re a long way from 2000 when Ray Lewis was arrested for murder. He eventually cut a deal wherein he testified against two other defendants and he pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of obstruction of justice. Lewis wasn’t suspended a single game by the NFL.
Vick is more than just a moron. Dogfighting is on a level with child molestation and pederasty.
Cripes, this SI story has some details contained from the indictment. It’s pretty sick stuff.
Dohrmann’s article and the indictment itself are a chiller, no question. Beyond the sadism it takes to raise dogs for this activity, the alleged methods of executing the animals deemed unfit for fighting mark Vick and Co. a bunch of sick little psychopaths. It implies that they killed the dogs in such varying fashions simply because it excited them to do so.
I’m all for “innocent until proven guilty,” but does anybody truly believe that Vick had no idea what was going on at his property? Even if he’s acquitted of the worst of his accusations, his credibility is shot.
So many people are willing to wreck a mans career over allegations.
Nothing has been proven. Why the rush to judgment?
Let the record show that I’m no Vick fan. I always thought he was overrated and the beneficiary of one of the best hype campaigns ever.
A couple of things:
1.Federal government USUALLY wins these cases.
2. I say don’t rush to judgement, but if they even find that he KNEW about the activity, then throw his ass out of the league.
3. I love the NBA and it has its share of miscreants, but if I hear another person say “I hate the NBA because its full of thugs and criminals(redneck accent)” I will scream. The NFL has had TONS of serious crimes and yet the league doesn’t get a bad rap. The NBA on the other hand has to implement a dress code to counter-act this stigma.
I my self can not say if he,s
guilty or not but the media has mr vick in prision already.and they have yet to show the views of the news proof of his guilt.they told us of weapons of massdestruction and we the viewers have not yet seen those and no one is been point out or in jailed for that fight that has cost thousands of lives humans not dogs young men an women not pups or dogs an no ones carrier is on the line for that all i want to say is show me the proof.
