If Reid wanted to go that route I'm sure he would try. No, the reason this is such a good idea is that it forces the Repubs to actually make a case. It's easy for people to sound principled when all they spout are "Support-the-troops" sound bites. But when they actually have to talk for more than a few minutes we see just how thin their rationale really is. The “Nuclear Option” isn’t the point here.
