I don't think it's honest to deny that our absence will likely blow the powder keg once and for all. The thing is, I don't think our presence is helping defuse the situation, and right now we're standing right next to the imminent explosion. It's a fuckup all around, and our options are most likely that Iraq will end up being the next Iran (a Shiite mullah dominated nation that hates us) or the next Afghanistan (a country so wracked by war and violence that any warlord who promises to keep you alive becomes your leader for life).
